There's no shape like game shape. The videos I've watched seem to indicate the guys are playing with more intensity this year, which will definitely separate the cream from the milk. I think Mazur's injury is just the beginning, however. Who knows. What interests me is the order of merit list; who replaces who? Could be interesting for-shadowing of what's to come. GR will need some help this year, and we always seem to suffer the wrath of injury....
To me, Copp is on notice. He wasn't worth 1/2 of his pay last year. From various write-ups I've reviewed, last year was even a tick off of his "normal" lack-luster production. Would Kasper be the 1st call up if Copp continues to underwhelm? It's almost like his time with Larkin at the U of M were the hope of Wing's staff when he was brought in. I know this much, he needs to step it up. He has a fresh start this year, should be fully healed and back to 100%. Hope he brings some grit and a better scoring touch.....if not, Kasper could be the guy, right?

The guy that is NOT worth 1/2 of his contract is Chiarot. Hard to jettison him because of his cap hit.
Copp struggled mightily at first, because he could not train right the summer before and missed training camp and I think the first couple games. He slowly and quietly became better as the year went on, but still was not worth his cap hit, but definitely worth more than 1/2 of his cap hit. Compher is viewed as less a player than Copp, and is not worth that cap hit as 3rd line center. But alas, good FA centers are not coming to Detroit unless they are over-paid and have term.
I am thinking that Chiarot, Fabbri and McIsaac are on very short leashes this year. The 2 vets will be impossible to trade, because of their contracts, but could be waived if they do poorly.
