Gilbert Dionne we hardly knew ya! That would be a good trivia question to see how many folks remember that he was the "other" player that came over in the trade that netted the Flyers Desjardins and LeClair. It sure would be nice to have a season to look forward to. It really is getting old to not be excited about the coming season cause you know they have ZERO chance of making the playoffs. I don't even know when the regular season starts cause it's just not that exciting when you have a bottom feeder team yet again. This has to stop soon! Another season of people whining when they win (should be tanking) and whining when they lose (cause they look awful on the ice). Thanks for nuttin!

That’s why I’m hoping 2-3 of the young guys step up and make this team and force Briere further and quicker into his rebuild.

Hi Bill, coming into camp would you say Adam Ginning has the best shot of any younger defenseman to make the Flyers opening night roster? Seems to me he plays a perfect style for a 3rd pairing defenseman, good size, solid, shut-down type of defender, great for the PK. This would give Andrae and others more time to develop their offensive game in the AHL.

True but what I like about the Flyers current roster is these young guys have to step up and beat out a veteran to see ice time in the NHL. That is the way it should be unless your name is Connor Bedard or Adam Fantilli. However I heard commentary after the two Flyers rookie games that I completely agreed with, no one playing in those rookie games played well enough to deserve a NHL roster spot.

Sorry if this is carryover nobody wants but how many saw the press conference from the jackets? Like…what a disingenuous waste of everyone’s time. They’re clearly reading everything they’re saying. The whole situation is dumb and to see how sensitive that organization is makes me hope they implode from the inside. They’re knew Babcock’s preparation before the hire.

there is no path for Ginning to make the team as I type this right now. The D is set.

No offense, but I think you are rushing to judgement. I actually heard the presser on Sirius/XM NHL Network yesterday and you are right. They basically called a presser to say nothing. I still think there is more to this. A guy just doesn't lose his job before he coaches one game (never happened before) for sharing family pics. If players were involved most likely things will be hush hush, but in today's world things will probably leak out about what really happened here. Just my .02.

That's an interesting point. I don't really remember, but I think they very well may have liked him more at the time.

How am I rushing to judgement? I just sat and watched the entire presser. Long story short, spitting chiclets is what got the ball rolling on ruining an entire organization’s plans for this season. A podcast. That’s kind of sad to me.

You've gotta walk before you run, the Flyers have been stuck in the muddy middle for many years and just four short seasons ago went to the second round of the playoffs. Building takes time. Even in the best case scenarios, like the Penguins getting a generational player in Crosby and the next best thing in Malkin it took them six seasons to make the playoffs. The Flyers are in year two of collecting higher-end young talent through the draft.

If this is a simple case of cancel culture then it is sad. I just happen to think that there is more to this then what has been made public thus far. I just can't imagine that asking to see pics on players phones is enough to get someone fired in today's world, but who knows at this point in this politically correct universe that we now inhabit.

I realize that, but I am simply not a very patient person and the sad reality is that this team hasn't really been a threat to win anything in over a decade now.

There probably is more to it. As I’ve stated, all the facts haven’t been given. However, a player text the issue to Paul Bissonnette. He didn’t go to an internal authority of the organization. Bizz leaked to story

The Flyers have numerous players signed to one way NHL contracts to play the 3rd pair. I'd like to see some young guys integrated into the lineup but doubt it's going to happen overall.

It's not the way it should be. It's archaic and obsolete. A team like the Flyers destined to be a bottom feeder should have open spots for younger players where they compete again other younger players for the spot. Fill in and stop gap veterans players can always be found on the waiver wire.

Not sure who you're listening to, but NHL roster spots are not up for grabs in rookie games.

The main reason for the pressor was damage control. For the GM and Davidson it’s probably about self preservation. They knew what they were hiring… good coach who uses methods that simply aren’t acceptable anymore…

If the method of asking to see and share family photos is not acceptable. Why didn't the GM say something and pull the plug on that when he and Babcock exchanged family photos?

It’s the NHL . You make it t on merit. With that said the Flyers need to do a better job with player development ( no poop eh!!). As far as the rookie games? Who cares… no system, no structure… let’s see how they do with big boys.
