Any chance the Flyers could flip the bill for a security detail for Michkov while in Sochi/Russia?

Thanks Bill. Funny, the fourth name on the invite list is Matt Brown which is my son's name. I'll have to show him that he's been invited to Flyers rookie camp! He's just starting hockey this fall, but I'd say he has a good shot at making it with how bad we're supposed to be! haha

And everyone thinks its gonna be a walk in the park to get this guy over in 3 yrs???? They definitely seem to be making an example of him killing his dad then sending him to that town to play.

That's worse than being a healthy scratch in front of your family and friends in your hometown.

Bill did the flyers have any say, input, or communication with the Russian team in regards to MM? Or where they just going to let it play out?

Tough go for Michkov, he probably can’t wait to get out of Russia. Very odd how they are treating him, is it the Flyer ties?

Roman Rotenberg runs the show and exercises full control over Michkov until the end of the 2025-26 season. The Flyers get no input.

I'm wondering the same thing. If Michkov is supposed to be the next greatest player to come out of Russia since Ovechkin why are they messing with him this way?

For a kid this talented, and a high first round pick to boot, it does seem odd that he's getting kicked around like the proverbial can. Something strange going on here.

No. Rotenberg treated him the same way last season.

He didn’t send him to the place his father died after requesting anywhere else.

Bill who are the rookie team goalies? It's cut off on both the listings I've seen so far, including your link.

So all that’s keeping him in Russia is this contract. They can burn him with fire or throw stones at him for the next three years until his deal is up?

Megalomaniac oligarch who is used to always getting his way and convinced of his own brilliance vs. a strong-willed, ultra talented teenage hockey player that SKA controls through 2025-26. Par the course in the KHL, and very much the reality in Russia's oligarchy (especially where thennation's richest oligarch family is concerned).

Roman Rotenberg is a bright guy. Highly educated. Speaks three languages (Russian, Finnish and English) fluently. A good athlete, especially for a non-professional. But he is supremely egotistical, cocky and, by reputation, ruthless and vengeful.

Money talks, if the Flyers threw enough money at them I'm sure they'd let him go. But whuddo I know.

What does the KHL seem to dislike MM so much?
What has happened that they are treating him this way?
This whole story just seems odd, especially for a kid as talented as he is....

I came across this interview with the coach. He said MM needs to be a first or second line guy. He doesnt want him sitting on the bench and that it'll be a better situation for him in Sochi. It all sounds pretty reasonable...for what it's worth. Don't know how valid this source is or how truthful the coach is being.
