So I literally have no free time today but I just wanted to say that Erik Karlsson is a Pottsburgh Penguin and that is amazing. I'll share more detailed thoughts in due time.

Bringing this over since its basically the same Article as RW

San Jose is retaining $1.5 million of his salary yearly.

Pitt retaining 25% on Petry retained 1.5625 mil

Karlsson coming in at + 10 mil a year.

throw in players...
Dillon + .789
Rem + 1.1

Desmith - 1.8
Rutta - 2.75
Grunlund - 5
Petry - 6.25 - 1.5625 = 4.6875

Totals -
14.2375 Mil out
10 Mil in (possibly 11.1 for Rem)
+- 1.8 mil possibly two ways.

Does this mean Jeff Petry is getting a divorce? Wasn't she the reason he requested a trade last year?

He traded all of the bad players for their good player. What a move.

SJ essentially got a 1st round pick only for EK. Canadians got the better overall haul it seems like

If the pick turns into a late round pick, oof they traded EK for a roll of the dice.

It’s been said here for a week. Trade all our bad players for all their good ones. It wasn’t a facetious take.

That’s a nice cleanup of the RD logjam as well. Ruhw or Friedman are perfectly fine 3RD.

I think I would have tried to offer Smith or Poj as well to sj for a little more retention and also to clear up that logjam.

I’m impressed that we never had to give up Poj, Smith, Pickering. I’d rather trade Pickering than a first though if it was an option.

Carter is the only trash on the team that really stands out

Imagine if there's a move to free up those dollars and get 2 guys who can play @1.5 per, couple vets looking to compete/rebuild value

Yeah if he’s lucky lol

Hamaliuk was a 2020 2nd round pick as well. Prob not a huge upgrade but I’m sure he’s better than half our baby pens.

1 more move still needs to happen though. We are 80k over the cap with 12f, 7d, 2g
