What should we expect from Cole Caufield this upcoming season?

- Karine Hains

35/35/70pts-ish is what I expect.

I think he plays at least 70 games this year.

He's no Brock Caufield, but I believe in him.

I also think Suzuki breaks a PPG.

agreed, I have Suzuki at 80-85pts. Best question is who will play with them. Dach is expected to center the 2nd line, Anderson has limited chemistry with Goal and Nick, maybe Newhook? that would be the smallest (in height) 1st line in the NHL. I think Slaf will eventually get a chance but he just turned 19, that would be big minutes for him to play on the top line

MSL is the perfect coach for Caufield....so many similar traits as players.

The NHL has tilted the game for offence, as such Caufield will benefit greatly. He has a wicked release, and the right linemates to get him the puck in high danger locations. I see a 35 goal scorer every year, with a few years he threatens that 50 goal threshold. Will he ever make it, we shall see.....

The contract, the Montreal media, the fans.....none of it will affect his play.

Weird feeling Hoffman starts on the top line for some reason...and gets replaced by Newhook or Slaf 15 games in.

who will retrieve pucks? If anyone starts there...it might be RHP. He can dig pucks in the corner, go to the net, do the dirty work. Hoffman just waits in the slot to shoot, he is useless everywhere else on the ice

Montreal Canadiens have signed Liam tep to a 3yrs entry level contract. The 4'5", 97lbs forward had a tremendous performance at the Brick Invitational.

Monahan?

Otherwise, I was thinking Newhook as well, but you mentionned why it might be best to look elsewhere

Monahan should start there if healthy

I expect Caufield will be a reliable 35-40 goal scorer over most of his career, while flirting with the 50 goal mark once or twice.

If Hoffman ends up on first line most of the season, we will pick top 5 again at next draft…

they might be close to a top 5 even if he plays on the 4th line. Just look at the Atlantic, Habs are the weakest team in this division Not a bad thing, they could use another elite talent up front, kids are not ready to lead anyway, still a couple years before they can pretend sniffing the playoffs.
