Had to know the Lightning were going to start playing well right before we played them. |

Lighting and Canes always seem to have Isles number. Sometimes you need to face that type of adversity in order to progress to the next level.

Well if things stay how they are now in the standings for the Islanders, there is a good chance they'll have to face Carolina in the first round so they're going to have to figure it out or they'll be on the golf course quickly |

Pretty sure the Isles had lost to the Caps twice this season in regulation before Tuesday's game, so I am hoping the Isles can also do better against the Lightning tomorrow. Working in their favor is that Tampa is a virtual lock to make the playoffs, and there is very little chance that Florida catches them for 3rd place. They have a slight chance of catching the Leafs for 2nd, but, as a veteran team, home ice is a bit less important than it is for teams with less playoff experience.
Meanwhile, the Isles got no help last night from Montreal and Nashville, but they still control their own destiny. A win against the Bolts tomorrow would be HUGE.

I think you guys could beat the canes this year. They can’t score and you guys can defend as good as them. Devils could jump them tho. I went to mondays game, I thought the islanders played great and could beat NJ too.
Either way, see you in rd 2 |

Don't you try and reverse-jinx us you bastard
I think they can beat the Canes or the Devils. Sorokin can carry them in the playoffs but they're going to need Barzal back and Horvat to start scoring again. |

Last two needs in your post will decide how the Islanders do in the playoffs. If we get both Barzal back and Horvat starts scoring I like our chances against anyone. I say that while acknowledging our chances aren’t great against a team like the bruins but we will just be in a more competitive position at the very least. I think we can push a series against any other team in the eastern conference. Even the Canes. |

It would be incredible to face the Rangers in the playoffs this year. Would be a great series and I think you have a team that’s capable of pushing it to 4 games. - Cptmjl

Lane Lambert says "possibly" Mat Barzal can return before the end of the regular season. When asked if Barzal is on the timeline that team originally anticipated, he says, "I think, probably, yeah, it's right around the same timeline that we had thought." |

My guess is that unless they fall off a cliff over the next few games and need to win the last couple games...they are going to save him for playoffs. I assume we'll probably see about 7-10 days of him skating and testing out the leg before they're comfortable throwing him into a game. |

Yep probably but if they can get him in a couple of games before the playoffs to get him into game shape with limited ice time that makes sense as well. |

Yeah I wouldn't be against that. Maybe the last game of the season against Montreal or something along those lines |

As long as we get him back. Before the end of the season would be great. I’m really curious what Islanders team we’re going to see Saturday. Tampa is now humming and Vasi seems to be back to form. |

Who knows. The good thing is that, for the most part, the Isles seem to get up for games against good teams. Lately it's the bad ones they've struggled with. Going to be a brutal weekend no matter what. |

Saw mitchell play at cornell he's big and good not sure how it will translate to the pros - Upstate_isles
Just read something/somewhere about both of these kids and it was a very positive article. Seems like they may be decent prospects. |
