If Nylanders going to be in the lineup he should stay with Geno and let Rust play with Granlund. |

I'm not sure how dudes elbow who caught Petry wasn't a penalty. It seemed like he knew Petry was back there. Either way, Pens seem soft. I liked how they played the last time against the Rags. It was a sense of urgency. |

The pens won with a soft team in 16 and 17. So they think that’s how they should always be. |

Thats a pretty crazy stat. Its pretty rare for any team not to have at least one penalty in any game haha.

Soft teams dont win cups you dummy. Just because a team is fast and skilled it doesnt mean they're soft hahaha. They were pulverized in the first two rounds by the much bigger Caps and Jackets in 2017 yet still prevailed. |

If u watch the replay it looks like Mottes follow through from moving the puck is what catches Petry. More of an unfortunate outcome than intent/dirty in my opinion. Motte isn’t a dirty player and I don’t think he did it on purpose, unfortunately Petry likely has a concussion though. Joseph then took numerous runs at Motte including the shoulder to the face which was clearly retaliatory/dirty and then stuck his stick in Schneiders blades a few feet from the boards later on in the game. |

"Tyler Motte made his presence felt. After he collided with Jeff Petry early on, which bounced the Penguins defenseman from the game."
This is how Jan Levine describes Motte's flying elbow to Petry's face.
Levine is usually pretty fair in his analysis but he has his head up his bumhole on this bias statement.

Yeah they had a big advantage in the speed and skill. Now they just get Pulverized without being able to just out score teams. |

This guy filling in for Madden was all pumped to bash on Carter like the cool guys do with Colby Armstrong and Army just shut him down. Pretty funny. |

When you weigh 87 lbs with your equipment on a shoulder to the face isn’t that bad. PO is like Gumby on skates. |

Didn't we just talk about how they've scored 4 and 5 goals and still lost the game in a lot of their L's this season?
Then Jarry puts in a respectful start last night and doesn't get the 4 or 5 goal suppert they have had in so many losses hahah... Oh, hockey... You make little sense sometimes haha |

Comical. Those teams weren't soft at all. The 17 team wasn't even the fastest. I will agree that I'm sick of watching them get mauled and have wanted a few bigger players for years. Then Hextall brings in f'n Granlund.....ffs. |

Ahhhh, I never knew your weight determined if it was a penalty or not. In that case, all good. |

This is why I was kinda hoping for Miller. I know he's a douche at times but he plays with an edge. What happened to the way they played the Rags the other day? It was a fun game to watch. |

Petry has been pretty good in front of his own net... Don't let the recency bias of two games ago and that disastrous 1st period before he left for the game get to ya haha... I will also concede that he didn't look good in October or the first half dozen or so games after coming back from the long injury layoff.
EDIT: also, I don't recall a single person here thnking Rutta was going to be a phsycial presence in front of the net, or anywhere on the ice for that matter. |

I think Hextall and Burke thought that. Not sure anyone else did. Even the cheer leading beat guys had to do a hard sell on the Petry deal.
It's funny because they were so much better defensively last year. I was fine with the defense last year. It was one of their strengths.
I really don't understand anything Hextall did.

I actually hope we end up as the 2nd wildcard. We have not been bad against Boston this year. Also, playing as the underdog often motivates these Pens. I think it would be a great series, and get us out of the Metropolitan Division.
One change on the lines I would like to see is Rust to the 3rd line and keep Nylander on the 2nd. |

This is the funny part lol they've let in 219 so far this year... last year? 222.
Goalies are obviously part of that but with 14 games to go? Yikes.

The Pens give up too many shots. We give up 33.5 shots a game, only five teams give up more. They are all last or next to last place teams. High Danger Chances Against (5v5), we are tied for 11th highest. Only the Rangers (T-11th) and Islanders are playoff teams. PK% is average at 14th in the league.
The goaltending is mid pack, 12th in all situation save percentage, 16th 5v5. HD Save percentage is 12th. PK is 6th best in save percentage.
Yes, the goaltending could be better, but I think our team defense needs to be better. Better team defense will improve the goaltending. |

She also acknowledges several contributing factors like zone starts etc.... Carter is taking so many draws in the D zone these days. Mostly an indictment of ever having them on the ice together. |
