The call on Siegenthaler was absolutely ridiculous. This ref needs to realize that the game isn't about him. Again, the NHL embarrasses themselves. It's the one thing they do well.

Interesting, Detroit put Jakub Vrana on waivers. I know he's been dealing with issues this year but he's still a very good player. I would definitely put a claim in on him if I was Fitz and hope he falls to us. His cap hit could make it hard, so teams may pass on him but I don't think he'll make it that far to us.

Holy cow. There must be something significant to put him on waivers. He’s a top 6 winger in my book.

Yeah something had to have happened. I know he was in the assistance program but it seemed like he got through that pretty well and was making his return. He was close to finishing his conditioning stint too i believe.

Over the past 3 seasons, only Auston Matthews has a higher 5v5 goals/60 than Vrana, and hes only 26. Something definitely had to have happened for Yzerman to do this.

Depends if there's a gentleman's agreement between teams to not claim him so he can continue playing in the AHL. The only other way he won't be claimed is the cap hit and the fact that he has another year left. Him being in the assistance program will have nothing to do with it(and the public also has no idea why he went in. It was never released if it was substance abuse or mental health.) GMs dont make claims on any kind of 2M+ salary but then go out and hand out awful contracts with term every year in free agency. Makes no sense. Ottawa or Buffalo should be all over him, and there should be zero chance he falls to us.

If he fell to us and we pass too, I'd be incredibly annoyed at Fitz. He's a free top 6 scoring winger, and the cap wouldnt be an issue for us.(although it'll be VERY right when Palat is actually back)

The problem is that why would the Red Wings put him on waivers if the off ice issues weren't something very serious? That is a team that does not have a depth of talent at the NHL level or coming in the pipeline. The prospect of getting a top scorer for literally nothing screams there is a big problem with the player that the general public isn't being told and it might not be something that GMs around the league are privy to knowing either.

According to CJ on insider trading it's all about Detroit needing the roster spot with Fabbri and Bertuzzi coming back. But again, with how good of a scorer he is its more than worth the risk if you can fit him. If he doesn't work out then he's gone after next season. Most GMs in the league are incredibly dumb though, so he'll probably go unclaimed.

He's exactly what this team needs in terms of playstyle. He's one of the most efficient goal scorers in the entire league, plays with a ton of pace that would fit in with our system/players, and is only 26. The only thing he doesn't have which we also need, that a Timo Meier brings, is size. I'd take the shot all day long, if he falls that far down the waiver prio.

I'm not convinced because Vrana when right is a much better player than Fabbri or Bertuzzi. Something just doesn't smell right about all of this.

Definitely possible. No point in speculating though. We'll see what happens tomorrow, and which team(if any) actually has a good GM with balls.

Wrong Capital/ex Capital, that was Kuznetsov. That's why he got suspended for 4 years by the IIHF

Guys on sirius radio today were talking about it and saying they've heard from people within the Detroit org that it's mental health issues with Vrana. But we'll probably never get public confirmation unfortunately.

Still 2 months away from the deadline but Pagnotta put out his trade watch list already. Has the Devils linked to Tarasenko and Max Domi.

He is not an NHL caliber player at the moment.
