"But Lundquist never won anything." Yes, except for Olympic Golds.

And no mention for Mogilny?

Sorry, missed that part. Thought that whole section was on Henrik since you bolded certain players at the start of paragraphs (BrindAmour, Verbeek, etc). Yes, it's a crime Mogilny's not in.

And if you want to say Verbeek, then guys like Roenick, Bondra, and Turgeon need consideration.

To me, the Hall of Fame should be VERY exclusive and only the best of the best.

Players that were really, really good simply don't belong. That is not to belittle their skill, talent and/or contribution to the game. As far as the women mentioned in the blog, I know nothing of them so I won't comment here.

Lundqvist is a lock as Jan stated.
Mogilny should be in already.
Elias should get in.
Gonchar is borderline. I saw him play many times live but never thought to myself that I was watching a H of Fer. Same with Brind'Amour --- he falls into the same category.

All of the others ( including Richter ) just don't make the cut for various reasons.

They all do. I should have added them and likely will. But we have no idea the true criteria to get elected

To me, the criteria should be elite (top-5 at your position) for at least 5 years. There's very few players that fit that description. Right now, the only 2 from this list that I'd say should be locks are Lundquist and Mogilny.

My biggest issue with the HHOF is the internal feeling that they MUST induct the max number every year. But hell, if there's not enough deserving players, don't let them in. That's how Guy Caronneau, Leo Boivin, and Richard Duff (all good players) get in, which opens the door for players like Brind'Amour who, for as much as I love him, is not a HHOF player (to me).

My thought on HOF is just this...

If you have to think about whether they belong ... they don't.

Mogilny not being in ... Mind numbing...

How Mogilny is not in the HOF is just a shame, He was way better the Alfie and the twins, he risked his franking life for all the future Russians to play in the NHL, he was a 6 time all-star, Staley Cup Champion, Led the league in goals 76 (tied) Lady Byng trophy 2003, won the world junior gold, Olympic gold. Triple Gold member and that is very select company, I believe only 31 plyers are in.

Played in 990 NHL Games, 473 goals, 559 assist for 1,032 points (1.04 PPG)

It is mind blowing how he is not in the HOF....

I think Mogilny was the first Devil allowed by Lou to wear a high number.

I think even stodgy Lou would have sobered up enough to let Mo wear a beard if he really wanted..

I didn't think Brind'amour should have got in but if we're putting in guys like Sundin or Alfredsson then I don't see how you can keep him out.

Stanley Cup, World Championship, 2 Selkes... that's not nothing, despite him always being the 2nd best player on every team he ever played on (2C behind Lindros, Francis and Eric Staal).

Conversely, with Roenick, I think he was a more dynamic player and higher profile guy throughout his career, but he also never won any major award or a championship of any kind. Actually winning something has to count for something.

I don't think the championship achievements should weigh as heavily as individual ones. Those are team accomplishments and the HoF is an individual honor. Not to suggest Rod wasn't a great player, but if I'm picking between him and Roenick, then I'm probably leaning towards the latter.

It's close. Frankly, I wouldn't rush to put either in. Carbonneau being in is dumb.
