All I heard the past few years were complaints that ZAR didn’t score enough and Tanev made too much money for a 4th liner! Now you miss them? Archibald is more like Tanev than anyone else they have right now!

I was one of a few who didn't have nice things to say about ZAR. Had nothing to do with scoring though. I felt his defensive play was overrated. Read a few places where he was the reason Blueger looked good.

If you look now, ZAR's numbers fell in Anaheim, not enough to make a definitive comparison. Anaheim was a bad team. He is off to a very bad start in Toronto. Doesn't look good for him, Toronto is a good team. I said it then and I'll say it now. Blueger carried ZAR.

I liked Tanev, he was overpaid, can't argue. He was excellent here, to the point the Blueger-Tanev-ZAR line was used more like a third line than the actual third line.

No effing way Archibald is comparable Tanev. Pardon moi francois.

I don't think one of the few is correct. I think this board was solidly split 50/50 on ZAR.

Anyways I didn't know Sid was a Montreal fan growing up.

I liked both those guys. Archibald isn't either of them. He definitely isn't Tanev just because they both run around and hit people.

DeSmith's stats weren't good last year, but that doesn't mean he played all that poorly. The problem with advanced stats for goalies is that they make small sample sizes smaller. The problem compounds for the backup.
My concern with DeSmith was always durability. He was unavailable two years running in the playoffs.

Wasn't his father in the Montreal organization? I want to say he was a minor league goaltender.

I said Archibald is “more like” Tanev than any other on the team now. Who is your choice?

It was pretty split down the middle. I liked ZAR, Rino didn't and we had a good few exchanges about ZAR because of this. Some liked having the best defensive underlying number darling in the league, others didn't because he didn't score. None of this is to be confused with thinking I miss him though.. Because I don't haha

If that third line is for real that’s huge for us.

Really disappointing period considering the Habs D consists of two 6/7's and 4 never heard of's.

Kappy must have spent some of that new inflated contract buying some hockey IQ. He's making a lot better decisions than in previous years.

One thing that you can't say about the Mike Sullivan Penguins is that they aren't capable of completely flipping a switch after a lack luster period.

McCann,Tanev,Gaudreau,Lafferty,Rodrigues,Matheson and Marino out.
Carter,Heinen,McGinn,Rakell,Petry and Rutta in.
Hextall has definitely made the team slower and it really shows against some of the younger, faster teams.
