Last summer, there were dozens and dozens of players signing during August, September, even into October. Not just RFAs, but plenty of UFAs as well. Remember there was a day in September when Lou announced 4 signings all at once - Palmieri, Cizikas, Sorokin, Beauvillier. Matthias Ekholm was still a UFA before finally deciding to sign with Nashville in mid-October. So this is nothing new.
As for guys like Kessel, you keep referring to his 52 points last season without acknowledging that since Arizona was so thin on talent, Kessel was playing 17+ minutes and featured on the #1 PP unit. How many other teams would use Kessel in that role? Practically zero. He'd end up in the bottom 6 and maybe get some mop up duty on a 2nd PP unit. Does he have the skills to excel in the bottom 6? No, he's awful defensively (worst on the Coyotes), can't skate, doesn't hit, doesn't PK. Why would I sign him for $1M if he can't fill that role. Instead, he'll latch on to another terrible team - probably the Coyotes again - where he can still play a top 6 role.
Then you report that a contender will likely sign Subban? My money would be on a team that isn't close to contention. If my window to win is now I don't want some reclamation project that appears to be a defensive black hole. Again, someone like Arizona or San Jose or Philly can bring in Subban for $1M. If he excels then they move him for a pick at the deadline. |

Subban will retire.
Kessel would be fun on hotdog night. |

P.K. Subban has made plenty of money, what he doesn’t have is a Stanley Cup Ring.
Does he have the fight to chase It? This is only reason he should still suit up is for the CUP and not the CASH.

I hope the cap stays that way It actually makes GM's due their jobs instead of throwing money around like it is free money welfare. They make enough money.
I hope the salary cap never goes up and then learn to work within in confines of the real world. Insanity has to stop sometime. Why is it never enough. One day you will be lucky to afford to go to a handful of games because the ticket prices are inflated.
Oh wait INFLATION, There is a tricky word Reduce inflation Tell me how you do that when you spend money like a sailor on shore leave. |

GM's know it's a young man's sport.
Out with the old and in with the new.
Especially if the "new" are all on ELC's. |

I always try to dew my job. Right now I’m trying to due my do diligence so that I can make the right moves to navigate this inflationary environment. What’s the probability that we get stagflation? |

would love Stastny or Subban on the Bruins, especially if you look at who they would replace at a similar or lesser cap hit on the roster. |

Defending capitalism without owning any means of production is just a fancy way of saying you enjoy the taste of boots.
You are not a capitalist worker, you are a wage-slave with Stockholm Syndrome. But yeah, go ahead and keep losing sleep over non-issues like "woke" crap and politics.

Don't waste your time trying to explain economics to somebody who is obsessed over whether a swimmer has cock and balls or not. All working taxpayers have a boot on their throat and these clowns are worried whether it's a left boot or a right boot. They'll die on their hill of keeping billionaires happy because abortion, woke, gay wedding cakes, trans swimmers, minority castings in Netflix shows, etc. You may as well try explaining economics to a vegetable.

Stastny, Rodriguez and Gagner give you the best bang for the buck. It’s a good deal if someone can get Stastny for $2 mil. Gagner and Rodrigues are 25-30 point players. I could see someone overpaying for Rodrigues after his last season.
