I welcome this as an above average Sweeney decision when confirmed. Certainly better than Quinn or Sacco |

Great move by Boston to hire Jim Montgomery as Head Coach! Jim is a real gentileman and deserves a secornd chance. Good Luck Jim, we will miss you in St. Lou! |

Happy they didn’t hire Quinn. The Stars were definitely a good defensive team the year he was there as illustrated by their goals against. I am actually satisfied with this guy as opposed to some they had interest in. |

Montgomery could be good. He still has many bad groceries to work with. Not sure the man produce miracles. Still see no reason to take group seriously at this point time. We'll see what dealin' Don has in store.
EDIT: Also love that Chiclets broke the story. |

I can’t really complain about the hire. There were worse options.
Pretty stealthy good play at the moment. |

Yeah, I was pleasantly surprised. Cassidy wasn't the problem and he was scapegoated, but the criticisms leveled against him were not without merit. We'll see how this goes.... |

For all those Debrusk haters out there. Boeser signed a 3 year deal at $6.7M per...2021/22 stats: 25 G/46 Pts. Debrusk is signed for 2 years at $4M per...2021/22 stats: 25 G/42 Pts. Oh, and 8 of those goals were GWG. No way I'm trading Debrusk until at least after Marchy is fully back. And who knows, he may actually take off under Monty. |

So I find this comparison a bit misleading. Boeser may be slightly overpaid, but has proven to be between 45-55 points regardless of season or line mates. One season of comparison is a very cherry picked argument. I would take boeser playing with marchy and bergy 10 times out of 10 over debrusk if Sweeney didn't squander cap space on junk.
Im down for trading him whenever. But will Sweeney do that? I guess we will see. |

2017/18 (first season) : 16/43 (70 GP)
2018/19: 27/42 (68 GP)
2019/20: 19/35 (65 GP) *revolving door of wingers on Krejci's line
2020/21: 5/14 (41 GP) *lots of time in the doghouse
2021/22: 25/42 (77 GP) *once again in the doghouse to start the season driving the trade request
So yeah, guess Boeser's worth $2.7M more... Most of this year's production came when he was playing 1RW (which BTW, is not his natural position). He was the poster boy for Cassidy's doghouse...
Just saying he is a much better player than the fan base gives him credit for. |

He can't produce by himself. He doesn't make lines better. Does he get a bad wrap? Sure. But a lot of that also comes from female doging about wanting out because he wasn't getting his way. He can produce when someone feeds him the puck. Without bergy and marchy (or someone on another team like him, he won't produce.
To your point on boeser, yeah he is overpaid. I would say by up to 1m though. Different caliber players. One can create chances and put up points on his own, the other needs to be carried. I would pay the player that makes his line better more than the one who has to be elevated by the other players on his line. Boeser 100% deserves more than Debrusk. |

Guess I need to find stats on unassisted goals???
As far as female doging about wanting out...why wouldn't he? He was getting healthy scratched left and right and yet guys like Foligno and Nosek are in the lineup every night they are healthy and doing absolutely nothing...(30 pts combined and a combined +/- of -22). |

He was in the doghouse for a reason. You can't use that as an excuse for not producing.
And Boeser getting overpaid in no way makes Derusk's deal a good deal. |

With the exception of 20/21, how are those numbers "not producing"? So with the exception of 20/21 he has averaged 24 goals per season...yeah, I guess no production there... |

If you think it's just about goal totals you don't understand hockey as much as you think you do.
He takes way too many nights off.
And you need some remedial math. Even if you discount his really, really crappy 5 goals in 2020-21, he's averaged less than 22 goals per season. |

Yeah, that's all I think about... He has turned into a pretty good two way player...hell, even started getting some PK time the 2nd half of this season. I've said it many times, his play is largely related to his confidence...he is a player who gets into his own head but Cassidy's style only made things worse with him but the kid does have talent and the charges he doesn't produce are unwarranted in my opinion.
Oops, you're right...didn't include his first season in my averages...so yeah, only 22 goals so he belongs down in Providence I guess... |

Not my argument, but I'd take Debrusk (who just rescinded his trade request) over Cassidy any day. - shoreorrpark
I don't know if I'd go that far... I don't think Cassidy was the issue and he ended up the scapegoat, but that being said, the charges levied against him I think have merit. |

Doesn't matter now. He has rescinded his trade request because the coach he didn't like is gone. Your 'value' player is in Boston to stay. Hope he can manage 30-40 points on his contract with no help to start the season.
And creating plays on your own is far more.thsn unassisted goals. It's making things happen on the ice when your line needs a boost. It's stepping up when your team needs it. Debrusk doesn't do that. He rides the coat-tails of players better than he is.
Kid is a third liner at best. But I guess I'll take him over the crap Sweeney has signed in free agency. Rather have a polished turd than just loose lumps of poop |
