That's Lou though. Give him 3 or 4 years, and that's what his rosters always look like. If not for Barry Trotz, the Isles would have gone nowhere since Lou went to th e Isles. He's gotta retire, he hasn't really been a good GM in a long time, and the Isles are going to be screwed for years. He always leaves behind problems like this.

Went to Conference Finals back to back, not too shabby. Maybe why he won GM of the Year those years? From Garth to Lou.......Thank God. Bad year yes, but Lou got rid of Ladd, a miracle in it's self, he will make the adjustments needed for next year, or he will be reassigned to upper management or retire. Scott Malkin will not sit back with a new arena and lose. Isles have over 15 million in cap space next year, shed Bailey and Varly that would be like 25 million. Got Forsberg?

How about Cal and Varly (retaining half their salaries this year only, Varly has one more yr, Cal UFA) for Olausson and Francouz? Would solve Col goalie problem, both Kemper and Francouz UFA next year. and Kemper is made of styrofoam!

Kubalik is a RFA after this season but his QO is pretty high. Same with Strome. Not sure there's much value there in my opinion.

He's just going to use that space on old, aging players again, and sign them to bloated long term contracts, like he did in New Jersey and Toronto. you're just going to get more Andy Greene/zidlicky/Marleau/Zaitsev/Komarov/Fillpula/Palmieri/Parise/etc/etc.

It's his M.O. - big splashes with aging players that almost always need buyouts or trades eventually. It worked pre-cap but it's too messy with a salary cap.

Lou is a Hall of Fame GM, with many, many awards & Stanley Cups, GM of the year, the last 2 years running, you running him down doesn't mean much!

Lou is a Hall of Fame GM, with many, many awards & Stanley Cups, GM of the year, the last 2 years running, you running him down doesn't mean much!

3 straight teams he's left behind mulitple old/middling players with bad contracts. The Isles wouldn't have been a playoff team without Trotz.

We went to conference finals with mostly guys that were here from Garth Snow days, The best thing Lou did was getting a great coach.
Yes got rid of Ladd but signed Palms to long contract.
I just hope current owners ship does not wait to long to make changes and that they dont brings Lou son in as replacement GM.
