tks Karine,
I find many are quick to conclude that Caufield will start with Suzuki. that could very well be Gally's spot.

it's a long season. we don't know how Caufield will react after 40-50-60 games, on the road they may want to use Gally there on the 1st... play the kid on the 3rd with some PP time. not impossible.

I believe Caufield will indeed start on the 1st line, but of course if things aren't clicking after a while they can promote Gallagher up the line up, who can be very useful when a spark is needed. I doubt DD sticks with the same lines until the end of the season, no matter what the results are...

he's your next captain, he's your highest paid forward.... not that easy to put him on the 3rd, if you see what I mean.
he also scored (or was on pace for) 30+ goals the past 4 seasons.

looking at that lineup, I think the ice time distribution will be much closer than you might think, so it probably won't be a huge difference between the 1st and 3rd lines...

oh that I agree completely. it always was the case tbh. but still, DD needs to be carefull here.

since not every line will be firing on all cylinders every night, DD will most likely try to determine who's got it going during each game, and go with that. i doubt Gallagher is the kind of guy who'll be pouting if he isn't officially on a "#1 line" all the time.

agreed. he said it himself if I'm not mistaken, that if he plays on the 3rd that means the team is improving. but still. playing with Suzuki is not the same thing as playing with Evans or Poehling. that's why I say DD needs to communicate very clearly here with his players.
I don't know if he'll play Caufield on the first or not, I'm just pointing out that playing Gally on the first is not that far fetched.

agreed, and it will most likely happen during the season, unless Suzuki and Caulfield tear up the league all year long, without any dry slumps, which sounds rather unlikely.

yep. and don't forget, the Suzuki line will face the top pairing Ds on the opposite side. every night.

so let's hope all lines develop good chemistry lol... speaking of which, kinda sucks Hoffman is missing the pre-season, would've been an ideal time to get things going. and Caufield is injured as well, jfc.

not ideal, many teams have injuries. look at PIT, without Malkin and Crosby.

meh, PIT have been good for way too long, wouldn't be sad to see them drop a bit for once

Indeed it is a long season but for now, it’s Caufield’s spot to lose

1st, flagged your post by mistake
2nd, I like Caufield, he could very well score 40 one day. but for now Gally scored 30+ the past 4 years. respect.
