Best goalie on the team. Keep him around for the next 3 years. No big deal. Cap still isnt an issue going forward. Unless they go into free agency again next year. Deal is fine. Hes a better Goalie than Merzlikenz.

Deal is fine. It kicks in next year, Brown comes off the books, and 2.6mm in dead cap comes off the books with the Carter retention money, too. Is it an overpayment? Maybe. But it sets a level of expectation for Cal. It gives him a number to OUTPLAY if he wants a similar deal in 25/26. If he stinks the joint up (which I doubt since the team in front of him is getting better this year and will get better in the 3 years of the deal), then he's a buy-out candidate. So the AAV and term all present acceptable risks.
