Good bye to Troy Brouwer and his 1.5 million yearly paycheck that he got for the buyout.

Hey John,
There was no Flames blog on the main page so I clicked the Flames logo to get to the last Flames blog. Your Tampa Bay blogs from 2017 were there instead, I started commenting on the November 29th blog from 2017, things got lonely.

Anyways, I figured the only reason Tampa blogs from 2017 would be there is that you would be our new blogger. Call it an educated guess that a 6-year-old could have made.....but educated non the less.

A 1-2 punch of Monahan and Lindholm is respectable, IF Monahan can come back from his hip injury close to what he’s shown himself to be in seasons prior. A 2nd line of AM-SM-DD is pretty good, in my opinion. Now if Dube doesn’t take the next step and Monahan can’t recover then it’s a disaster.

A lot of ifs but I still have faith Monahan can be a good 2C that’ll get 20-30 goals a season.

I would only trade tuch for a bonafide 1C which at this point it’s questionable wether or not monahan is.

Everyone knows Vegas needs to cut salary, at least if they want to improve their team and with Reilly smith only having a year left on his deal I think he would be a much more expendable target. He fits the bill for what both sutter and the fans want and if the team turns it around we can sign him to an extension or if poop hits the fan we can trade him at the deadline for draft capital.

Now I don’t see Smith as a cap dump from Vegas by any means but if we retained half of monahan’s salary I would want a 1st coming back with him as we would be helping Vegas resign martinez if they choose to go that route. Also with giordano’s contract coming off the books as early as this off-season I don’t see 3 million in dead salary for two years as an issue, especially if the team plummets into a full rebuild. Even if not it’s likely zary will becoming in as a 3C in the 2nd year so with his elc I wouldn’t be concerned.
