All the big time insiders saying Leafs in on Granlund in Nashville. Toronto would like for Nashville to take Kerfoot and his remaining contract.

While you are talking to your Anaheim sources about Manson...can you ask about who Gibson might be traded to? |

Interesting tidbit on the Leafs. TSN coincidentally had a recent article saying that Garland and Foligno were targets, but if that didn't work then adding a d-man was a possibility. If your sources are hearing this too then it must be making the rounds! |

Why would Jarmo trade his captain Nick Foligno when Columbus is competing for a playoff spot? They're 3 points behind Chicago for the #4 spot in the Central.
Also why are the Coyotes trading Conor Garland? Arizona is currently tied with St. Louis for the #4 spot in the West.
The Preds are 2 points behind Chicago. Why would they be selling?
All the teams I just mentioned have around the same number of points as the Flyers do. But apparently they're all sellers while the Flyers are buyers. Makes total sense. |

None of those teams have Carter Hart who might be the top young goalie in the NHL. At least the young part is right and the list doesn't have a bunch of 29 year olds. If the Flyers can add Ekholm, or now Manson, then Hart magically transforms into a Vezina-winner, and the Flyers go on a run. Salary cap and expansion draft doesn't matter in buzzland.

And I thought I read somewhere the Flyers switched their focus to Ellis?

The Blue Jackets have a goal differential of -23 and are effectively 13W-22L this year. If Jarmo thinks this team is going to have a long playoff run he's on drugs.
Foligno and Savard are both UFA and should fetch some useful assets. |

Did you just use goal differential instead of actual points to justify being sellers?
The stanley cup champions of 2012 - LA Kings - essentially had a losing record by your standards and were barely on the plus side of goal differential.
Elliotte Friedmann kicked around the idea of Taylor Hall to St.Louis....but they are -12 in the goal differential department and have apparently no chance of winning anything!!
With logic like this, it almost seems like a burner account. EK is that you? |

Columbus isn't selling just to appease Leaf fans. If they can make the playoffs they aren't selling. Now alot can change in 2 weeks. |

Any interests in the Canucks UFA D's - Edler, Benn, or Hamonic? |

Call Buffalo. You never know what crazy thing they'll do next.
Hopefully for their sake they read these boards and realize that they have a goal differential of -50 and will not be in the playoffs for the next 5 years. |

1. I never said CBJ would sell to "appease Leafs fans." It doesn't look like Ek did either.
2. They're a losing team and Jarmo would be an idiot to not see that unloading UFA assets is the best course of action at this point. But yeah, sure, they could go on a Cinderella run and make it. I guess.
Still think he would have to be on drugs to not be a seller, but hey, maybe Foligno doesn't waive his NTC and Jarmo enjoys meth. 🤷 |

Jarmo didn't sell 2 years ago at the trade deadline when he had pending UFA's like Bobrovsky, Panarin, Duchene and Dzingel. So why would he be selling now?
Columbus hasn't made the playoffs much in their history. Selling off players when you're 3 points out of a playoff spot isn't going to sell many tickets. That is when fans can actually attend games again. |

Probably because they were actually in a playoff spot at the deadline and were a demonstrably better club with a winning record?
Not sure how many playoff tickets CBJ expects to sell this year...... |

How do you know Columbus won't be in a playoff spot at the deadline? Passing Chicago isn't an impossible feat. They're 3 points out. Not 13. |

I'm looking at their losing record. I'm looking at their goal differential. I'm looking at Chicago not just idly sitting by while their rival makes a(n implausible) run. I'm looking at Dallas, another losing team, who is only 3pts back of them but has 4 games in hand.
I could go on, if you like?
Look, all signs seem to point to them missing the playoffs and having two players who likely don't return in the off-season. I don't have a crystal ball but if I'm Kekalainen* I'm not gambling with the future for a more-than-likely futile playoff run.
* I'm definitely not. |

It's all based on "what if's." Same as my argument. I don't understand how a GM whose team is 3 points out of a playoff spot with 21 games remaining says "I'm selling." |

I thought I made a pretty compelling case why they should absolutely be a seller. Guess not!
Blue Jackets probably win the Cup after this convo. That would be Jonesiest of conclusions. |
