Hope you get better but you're not missing much with the way they are playing.

Wings have a bunch of new players but the coach is using the same poopty systems as before.

Collapsing defense in their own zone that gives way too much time to the opposition to skate, pass and shoot from anywhere outside the slot. It's like the other teams are on a PP most of the time with Wings players late to loose pucks because all 5 guys are in front of their own net screening their own goalies in the process. This might work for a great defensive shot blocking team but the Wings are not one.

Offense seems to have no structure at all. Breakouts still are a lot of bad passes or just flip outs to center to the other teams to go right back at the Wings.

PP is still using this stupid drop pass crap all the time (yes i know a lot of teams use it now). When they do get into the offensive zone they stand around passing a lot and shoot right into an opposing player who clears it down the ice.

PK is still passive and not getting into passing lanes well enough.

Blashill is good for a high lottery pick but not if you want players and the team to actually improve and gain confidence. He needs to go very soon imo.

once we get some more talent in Seider, Raymond , Power (hopefully)and maybe Veleno and Berggren in this lineup.

Then it will be time for coach dummy to go..

Anybody think Sam Bennet would make a good Wing?
Give them Zetterbergs LTIR contract and a 7th for Bennet, then they can entice Toews back out on the ice and go to Calgary for Gaudreau

Listened to the game, much better performance in the aggregate, but still not enough. Strong play in the 1st, but sedentary after that. However, the guys stuck with it and held a potent FL team at bay, which is impressive considering previous performances. Previous post above captured the essence of the game, and a very accurate run-down of the state of the team. BertBuzzi went down, Larkin beat up, sounded like Mantha’s dealing better with the demons & stepping up his game, Ryan’s name was called routinely being all over the place (freakin’ sign this guy to a long-term deal already, dammit!!!).

Yes, it’s going to be a long year, painful games to watch/listen to, frustrations will boil over. I’m not a professional coach, nor am I versant in what it takes to lead a professional team; but I do understand the nuances of leadership & motivation against a potentially dangerous foe. I say that because, again in my opinion, the Wings desperately need a change in higher leadership & philosophy. It’s glaringly obvious that Blash doesn’t know his players. This can’t be couched by: “COVID protocols...”, “talent isn’t there (sic; that’s bull-shirt, btw; Wings have some awesome franking talent...)”, blah blah blah. Blash was an incredible AHL coach. Sometimes leadership just doesn’t transfer. It is what it is. When that happens, management must make a move before the psychology declines and the team becomes a pariah. We passed that point long ago. Change in leadership & philosophy is urgent and can no longer be ignored. These kids are good, we have glaring holes in the line-up, but this team has the ability to hang against good teams. The missing link is cohesive coaching.

BTW, Seider is day-to-day w/a LBI.....

Good Lord Stanley, I love this team. I miss going to games, I miss the thrill of winning, I miss knowing our coaching staff is talented & genuinely knows the players inside & out. Being brutally honest, I hurt for these guys. It literally hurts my heart to hear/watch games & know that these kids CAN FRANKING WIN, but lack the proper leadership to do so. If this was the Army, the “leader” would’ve been relieved of command long ago. Senior leaders have GOT to make tough calls. I trust the Yzer-plan, but the toll being paid by the players & the image impact on the team is very, very high.

Today’s going to be a coin-toss: Mail it in, or fight like a bull-dog & gut out another close game knowing any feedback from the staff will have minimal impact nor bear any relevance to what transpired in previous games, nor posture the team to improve & gain confidence.

Staal has GOT to go.

Gonna cancel Center Ice, go w/NHLTV... not watching the games makes it very hard to provide any insight (considering my, very, amateur status...). Just need the wife to say OK 😁😅...

See ya on the high ground!

Hey, Henry! Saw SB is wanting out. I’m in the camp that says reclamation projects rarely work out. Ryan is an anomaly, but there were other factors with him; including a history of stellar production. SB had 1 “good” season and not much else. So, if he do the deed for him, what to send? Z’s LTIR? I’d save that for a better deal and a more-promising player. Then, what’s the impact on the roster? We could send him to GR, but that blocks space for Veleno/Raymond, etc... We rolled the dice on Ryan....and need to sign him long-term, btw.... not sure luck would be a lady again.

Stay warm, brother!!!!

A simple question.

If Blashill was released by the Wings WOULD any other NHL team hire him?

Yeah, well Z's LTIR contract needs to be utilized for something and the DRW don't need it for their own purposes, it would be nice to get SOMETHING for it and not have to give up an asset the Wings could need........

Stevie has a history with this player. Not a good one. He has all kinds of talent. But he likes mouthing off on social media more than he likes playing in the NHL. I'd be surprised if Yzerman claimed him. Some team will though.
