Larkin has earned it but who get the two A’s (ALTS)? Maybe 1 forward and 1 d-man?

If it goes like last year, Glenny will get one for sure. I’d like to see Bert and Mantha earn them (or Hronek if not Mantha). Dekeyser may as well, depending on health etc.

I set up on Parler, just not much hockey that you can “tag” there yet. The platform is huge and getting bigger.

Larkin should be captain but I want the A's to go to players who won't be traded in a few months. Filppula and Nielsen shouldn't get letters just because they're older than Christ.

If Stevie plans on keeping Glenny then he should get an A. But I'd like to see Bertuzzi and Mantha get the A's. These are the players we'll be counting on the most to win games.

These 3 players need to embrace being the leaders of this team. Not just with goals and assists. But by playing the right way and leading by example. I don't want players to yap and yell and back it up with nothing. Like Abdelkader. "We need to go on a run." Gag.

I think Bertuzzi embodies what a leader is. He's not going to kick garbage cans in the dressing room. But he's going to do whatever he can to help his team win. I think Mantha can be a leader too if he can just stay healthy. We're a much more confident team with #39 playing. Guys look up to him because they know he can score each time he's on the ice.

He's shown he's willing to stick up for his teammates. He needs to stay out of fights because he's bad at it. There's a proper way to close your fist when you're punching. This prevents breaking your hand. If he's going to fight then let Joey Kocur spend some time with him and show him the ropes.

I think we all can agree Larkin is the right choice to be Captain. I'd like to see less diving and whining to the refs. But I can understand him being frustrated playing for such a bad team. I think Yzerman has held off giving him the captaincy because he wanted to see Larkin grow up a bit and earn it and not just have it handed to him. I think he has. And it'll be nice seeing the C on a Red Wings jersey once again. 👍

I agree but wondering if someone like Bobby Ryan gets one? Kind of the veteran/emotional booster shot? Mantha and Bert make the logical sense.

I’m on the same page. Bertuzzi was night in/night out consistent and killing himself regardless of the score. Mantha, man, when he’s on the ice Larkin and Bert just light up and get faster and have more fun. Glenny is a consummate pro. Walk on at college, try out ECHL, all the way up. Never whines. We do need our core to take over and yes, I’ve missed the C!

I’d be surprised if that happened, just because he’s on a 1 way deal and may want to get dealt at playoffs. I do think there’s a ton of value in a player who’s been to hell and back. That kid has seen it all and I’m glad to have him here for this season

Bobby Ryan will most likely be a Red Wing for 3 months and then be flipped at the trade deadline.

It’s very possible. If he has a good outing he’ll have his pick of suitors and has a nice cap hit to boot

This is going to be a very short and interesting season. With less money being spent lately what will the trade deadline look like? I imagine teams moving to stock pile draft picks at dead line. Maybe some trades made just adding to the Taxi squad?
Looking forward to this season, something very different.

We know Yzerman will be very active. I'm looking forward to all the back to back games. Red Wings hockey overload! 👍

Especially since there's a decent chance that this year will be the first one where the Red Wings have two above-average goalies on the roster at the same time since (checks notes) 2007.

I'm not sure naming a captain now is the right move. Would like to see them do it when fans are in the seats. I say that because of what the Tigers did this past summer for Al Kaline, their all time right fielder who died last spring. They held a tribute, but Comerica Park was empty, save for the players, and the Kaline family was stuck at home watching it on tv. Thought that was as lame as could be, rather meaningless with out fans there and the Kaline family not on the field feeling the love and affection of the Tiger fans. Naming a Wings captain does have less fanfare, but announcing Larkin as the captain in front 20,000 fans would be so much more.

Holy Jumpin'! Sooo much to unpack already: This group is already going into overload!!!!

So torn about the "C". No doubt Larks is THE man....except Lil Bert.... 🤔 Larks - "C", Bert - "A", Hronek - "A". Not a big Danny D fan. Am wholly supportive of Ryan getting an "A" I'll say this; Fabbri & Ryan should be here for a while. A re-build needs proven leaders, folks who've walked thru the gates of hell & punched the devil square in the yap. Those 2 guys have, and the maturity and character they'll bring is, to me, much more important than a draft choice. They can bridge the veteran-gap as we go from LARMANZI to VELZADDER...(ya'll like that??? I just made it up!!!). Would kill to see the "C" announcement done to a packed-house, Larks is the last Wing introduced, the rink goes dark, spot-light on the tunnel to a BIG RED "C" banner, and Larks ripping thru it to the roar of 20k+ fans.....gives me chills, seriously.

Fans. How glorious to see fans in the stands. Sadly not to be. We're forced to watch a vacant LCA....but the Wings will play, and us die-hards will cheer, yell, clap, scream, throw stuff at the TV, and relish every second of Wings hockey. When we can fill the stands, that place will explode. The back-to-backs will be ok. The team bank account will be light. Some teams may well need to be saved. FRANK COVID 🤬🤬. But, like a Phoenix rising from the ashes, hockey will survive. It's not going to be easy, but the grand game shall survive. Center Ice is paid for, the DVR is empty (well, after the wife's Hallmark Christmas movies, my rugby, and some great TMC classics...), and ready for our, OUR, team, OUR players (good or bad, they're OURS), and OUR game!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS, friends 🎄🎄🎄🎄 May this season be fruitful, spent with the true joy and meaning of CHRISTmas. May you find the true value in those closest and most meaningful to you. Like my FIL says: "Love them that loves ya."
