This is such a puzzling off-season. I'm never one to push for a trade just for the sake of it o even force a player I don't like out unless thee is a proper plan in place.
I wanted the Pens to move on from Horn, but not if it meant the Pens wouldn't get a decent replacement. We all obviously wanted JJ gone at all cost, but not at the sake of another bad contract on a questionable player he did with Matheson. It remains to be scene if Matheson will be better or a good fit at all, but it's likely JJ is still a Penguin if this move doesn't happen.
This team MAY be better defensively now, but again, that remains to be seen, yet with that said this team's bottom six is far worse and IMO an easier team to play against. It's also not as if there weren't better options in the Pens price range. |

Rutherford should offer a 7th for him and have Tampa retain. - madmike71
If he agrees to waive to come here. Part of the problem for them is he doesn't really want to leave and isn't making it easy. |

Hey RW
Anything on "Tampa Bay not honouring the NTC negotiated in good faith by Tyler Johnson"?
You'd think your holier than though attitude you used to criticize GMJR for trading Hornqvist would suggest they they be forced to trade or let go of their RFA's rather than trade a player with a NTC |

Just goes to show the GM's are all pu$$ies or are in cahoots
They are RIPE for offer sheets on their RFA's, yet I bet no one is even trying to pluck one right now
If I'm a cutthroat GM, I offersheet both Sergachev and Cernak and make Tampa choose 1 right now or absolutely cap strap themselves by matching on both
[email protected] Million for a 1st and a 3rd
[email protected] for a 2nd - TheGame316
Not to mention Cirelli who I think is an even bigger target. No doubt a team should take a stab at Cirelli or Sergachev. Never really been a better chance that the team can't match. |

If anything he's going to be extra dikkish about it now that they tried to waive him and dump him on anyone, bypassing his NTC |

I figure you go Cirelli OR Sergachev at the 1&3 Compensation and Cernak at the 2nd round compensation. That way you can offer both (and potentially get both) at the same time
Another smart GM would then offersheet the guy you didn't go for at the 1&3 and put Tampa in a real short term bind with 3 open offer sheets
Before someone suggest that the players wouldn't agree to this, they are also looking around and want to secure their $$$. They can't wait on Tampa to figure things out and potentially leave huge $$ on the table |

Not trying to defend RW... but if we are tired of his negative nancy BS... why are you begging him to put out more of it? |

I'd have been pretty happy if the Pens made those deals for Stecher or Smith. Hopefully they do get one like that. Fast still out there... |

I usually call people out on double standards and hypocrisy on a regular basis. The world has way too much of it
Not that I expect RW to comment on it, but I want him to know (because he DOES read the comments) that I see it. Maybe that'll lead him to self analysis and change, although I doubt it

I sort of feel Sergachev would sign. He hasn't always been happy with not getting top 4 ice time. Plus having gotten a Cup, it's a good time to get the paycheck. |

With Tampa’s back up against the wall I’d a send them ZAR + 2021 2nd for Johnson. See how they respond, then find a way to move Scevior to clear out the space. |

Given their back is up against the wall, I'd be asking for the 2nd or some serious retention |

The thing you're not considering is that the player has to accept the offer sheet. It doesn't automatically happen just because you submit one.
I know you sorta covered this at the end, but it's not a given. |

The reason the Flames didnt sign TJ is because he isnt nearly as good as you think he is. Look at his stays without Giordano. The end. |

I think JR may only be looking for a RHD currently. I think he built a 3rd line which would provide consistent effort while being tough to play against. I think all 3 players show they can forecheck well and can score. They may not be offense powerhouses, but I think they may fit Sullivan's system well. We became a younger and quicker team. Hopefully we bring in a good solid RHD. |

One big thing you omitted to consider RW is that TJ wanted a NMC in his deal to protect him from being exposed at the expansion draft. Calgary wasnt prepared to do that where Tanev just has a limited NTC. Toronto gave Brodie his limited NMC. Calgary will be protecting Gio, Andersen & Hanifin. Thats a pretty big reason I would think. If there was no expansion draft I could have very expected Flames resigning Brodie. |

Stecher and Tanev signed already, so you really think he is? We need a legit forward to play with McCann. |

Not yet at least. Not sure where the rumor started he did. |

I'm still not convinced that GMJR is not going to make a trade to bring Fleury back. All of the guys they signed yesterday make Sceviour expendable and maybe ZAR, not sure where those 2 fit. |

I'm not understanding. Seems you said we should give them a 2nd and a roster player for a guy we or any team could have had on waivers for free. |

What this team needs and what Rutherford wants don’t always align. Yohe was still talking about Rutherford wanting an RD as soon as yesterday. JR’s comments about the Jankowski and Rodrigues signings solidifying the 3rd line don’t bode well. I don’t think we should expect anything good in the coming days. |

Yeah at this point Johnson is going for pucks if he’s moved at all. What a weird year. Feel like any other year Johnson’s contract shouldn’t be this impossible to move given that he’s a pretty good player from an on ice perspective. |
