Carol Schram: Looking at a Markstrom contract through the Lehner lens; the latest on OEL As word comes out that Vancouver is still one of just two teams that Oliver Ekman-Larsson would consider as a trade destination, that's talk about his friendship with Jacob Markstrom, who may have gotten a bit more clarity on his market value after Robin Lehner signed a new five-year deal with Vegas on Saturday.

Thanks Carol,

Problem is JB can't wait on OEL too long anymore, he has business to deal with.

Hopefully JB gave Armstrong a deadline of tomorrow to take his offer.

Fair point! If this deal doesn't happen, Benning will need to see what else might be able to do between now and Friday.

We will be squadding up so it won't matter too much. Let me know if it sounds like something you would be interested in. Maybe we can set up our first game this upcoming Friday. Sounds like bloated and maybe golfing are in as well

Plan B is probably Tyson Barrie

He probably has, doesn’t make sense to not give the Yotes a deadline that ends really soon since JB has to worry about his own owning UFA/RFA’s. Hopefully JB realizes that Boston is likely lowballing so he has a lot of leverage on the Yotes.

With VAN out on OEL Armstrong is in bigger trouble than he already is.

Sh1t or get off the pot.

This could be one of the few years where free agency is like finding good deals at Army Navy.

How many RFAs will be UFAs at the end of the week?

Agreed. I think teams with cap space remaining after the first few days of free agency will get some steals.

I bet the Yotes are trying to bluff about Boston’s offer and hoping JB gives in. I’d bet good money that Boston is lowballing.

I am still smiling at the idea of Hughes setting up OEL at the point on PP1

Absolutely, Armstrong could really mess this up. Maybe he just needs to hang on to OEL another season. Both offers won't be on the table forever.

That’s the thing though, who does OEL replace on that unit? I assume the Toffoli/Boeser spot? EP is already one lefty so it’s better to have another righty on the opposite circle for one timers.

I think OEL would end up on PP2 eventually

maybe

But if he’s replacing Krug on PP1, he’s getting 50+ points easily feeding Pasta and the Rat.

His shot is as good as any other current Canuck . They really don't have a hammer on the first unit.

Canucks PP is so predictable it needs a new look.

Markstrom will sign with the Flames, or at least the Flames will drive up the price. (frank) I hate the Canucks more then the Oilers.

I'm doubtful that Brown would play 2 D men on the first unit.
