I have no problem with Wood in a bottom 6 role. Yes, Shero overpaid him but it's still not going to hurt the team a bit. (If our deadbeat ownership would spend some money).
The crash line was a 4th line consisting of Mike Peluso, Bobby Holik and Randy McKay. It was a fantastic line and arguable only Peluso was really a 4th line player; but the team was very deep. Nothing bad happens if you end up with guys like Miles Wood on the 4th line. In fact it would probably be great if the Devils iced a 4th line of Wood-Zacha-Anderson/Bastian/McLeod/Seney or whomever. It would be a lot better then rolling out Hayden and Rooney that's for sure. |

Cap space is not a problem in the foreseeable future, therefore Wood on the 4th line does not seem that big an issue. He brings some things lacking elsewhere on this team, and for all of his faults I still like him. Kinda a very poor man's claude lemieux. |

I always likened him more to Randy McKay than Claude. |

BUST!
I would never compare him to Lemieux, not in the same conversation for me.....and I think McKay had better hands than Wood. But I admit I am bias and await the day he is finally traded |

I like wood but it's clear he doesn't have the ability to beat goalies consistently..his shot sucks to be honest lol. And to make things worse his hands just aren't that good and he doesn't seem to have very good vision..that being said the kid played with he likes of Wayne Simmonds and kevin rooney.i never doubt woods heart and effort but he needs playmakers that can set him up for slam dunks because he can't score on the rush to save his life |

Totally agree regarding Lemieux and McKay but I'd rather they keep Wood and play him down on the 4th. |

Well I meant a poor man's McKay. |

Miles Wood is essentially Tom Chorske. |

There's a name from the past.... and yes.
No offense to anyone but comparing Wood to McKay or Pepe seems like quite a stretch. |

Agreed! Pepe was one of my favorites from the 90's. Always had a knack for scoring the clutch goal!

Ilya Kovalchuk to the NJ Devils. Ultimately wound up being 15 years, $100 million.
However, due to attempting to circumvent the salary cap, the Devils were penalized by the NHL a 3rd round pick, $1.5 million cash, and were dropped to the last pick of the first round in the 2014 draft.
Kovy only played 3 years on the deal, then abruptly left the team ( after the draft and free agency ) to return to KHL.
To this day --- Devils continue to pay a $250,00 annual recapture penalty until 2024-25.
All of this trouble for just 3 season worth of play...
I had no idea. We are still paying until 2025?? |

Hey Todd, See your other team signing some quality NCAA free agents. Any word on Devils and remaining NCAA free agents? |
