Carol Schram: Comeback Canucks overcome slow start, begin road trip with 4th-straight win The Vancouver Canucks lost Tyler Motte to injury and struggled to create offense in the early going, but scored four third-period goals to maintain control of first place in the Pacific Division with their 5-2 win over the San Jose Sharks.

Thanks Carol! Really hoping Bailey gets a shot. One of the least talked about people (im mentioning this again cause it’s a new blog) imo is Bo horvat. I’d love to see his third period minutes average, i bet it’s absurd. We couldn’t close out games to save our life the last few years and now we have one of the better shutdown lines in the show. selke darkhorse!

I have to agree neem, Horvat is a workhorse and an integral part of the team.

Thanks Carol,

You guys are crazy, we need a 3rd line C not a 2nd. Pettersson is doing fine in that role.

Kind of a classic captain, does all the thankless work and is still very productive offensively. How many second line centers are above 40 points? Im guessing not many!

That goal last night by Virtanen had me wondering if he might have a higher ceiling... maybe a 30 goal guy? That was some nice patience/shot location.

As much as it would be interesting to see someone new like Bailey in the lineup, isn't it more likely (unfortunately) that Schaller draws back in to replace Motte's PK minutes?

Also, what's the status on Graovac? Shouldn't he be ready to return to play by now?

I looked for an update on Graovac earlier this week, but didn't find any new information. I agree, he should resurface fairly soon.

I also figured the first impulse will be to go back to Schaller in Motte's absence. But we are less than a month from the trade deadline, and he's on an expiring contract. He's a guy that Benning could be trying to move out, so maybe Bailey does get a look.

EDIT: It's official now, the call-up tweet for Bailey & MacEwen just came out.

I assume that means there's uncertainty that Beagle will be able to play.

I get what they’re saying, it’s be great if we had the depth that Horvat is the 3C. But, I think it’d be even better if we had enough depth that Petey was the 3C

I want 3 Hughes and 1.5 J.T. millers as well. Maybe another markstrom in Utica 🤷‍♂️

Please, let's not go overboard. It was harmless discussion, next thing you know you're emptying out your bathroom medicine cabinet on me. (I prefer the warming nature of Aqua Velva shots to Listerine BTW).

If you read back you'll see where I said I am good with Horvat where he is. It's not entirely out of the realm, although unlikely, that we luck out with another offensively gifted C on an ELC. What if he's close to Petey's caliber? Stick him on the 3rd and stifle the offence? It's all hypothetical and clearly beyond what you want to discuss. But it was OK to kill a morning coffee over with Vantel.

Anyhow, have at it, you seem to be enjoying yourself.

Hughes is amazing, it's taken forever to land a D like him.

This is a place for serious conversations only, not hypotheticals. As our resident fat sloth can attest to, Bo being mentioned as a 3C is a trigger word

Jerky Lumme was a great Canucks d man. Jovocop or Salo has to have been the best though I'm thinking. Unless I'm forgetting someone.

I don't think it's a coincidence that Jake's numbers improved when he was moved to a line with JTM and EP. Just like it's not a coincidence that Brock's numbers decrease when moved off that line.

We need players who can drive the play instead of being passengers. JTM, EP, QH are drivers. The rest so far...
