Can't the Knights just send a few guys down to the AHL, (The waiver eligible guys) and a guy like Reaves (1 million comes off cap if he's sent down) because nobody will claim him anyways, to get under the cap?
Once Clarkson's LTIR kicks in at the start of the season, they should be able to ink Gusev and Subban
I don't think its a good idea to move Eakin - If they can somehow swing an Eakin/Tuch/Gusev 3rd line they'd be impressive. Have Glass move up and down the lineup for injuries this season and move into the role full time next season
Reaves, Carrier, Nosek 4th lline? - Pirri as another variable?
Zykov, McKenzie down the the AHL |

Clarkson can go on LTIR now. If a medical says he will miss 10 games or 24 days. |

Without taking Clarkson into account, they only have just under $4 million in space. He's the least of their issues. Gusev would require another move. Reaves and Holden would be enough money, but I don't see GMs lining up for those two.

You have to take Clarkson's salary into account. He counts against the cap until the second day of the season. |

He is already on LTIR, but his salary counts against the cap until day 2 of the season. The Blackhawks went through this when Hossa was placed on LTIR. |

THIS
There will be a paper move to the AHL if anyone eligible and it’s likely that Subban and/or potentially Gustav won’t actually sign until after the 2nd day of the regular season because of this

You get the 10% as wiggle room though. They need to move actual salary to make Gusev a reality.

The 10% is strictly for the off-season. You have to be 100% cap compliant when the season starts. If the season started today they would be over the cap. That is with 1 goalie and 5 defensemen. They have a real problem.

Technically they could get thru the 1st game with the scrubbiest scrub for a backup goalie and 5 D and 11 forwards or whatever
Do all the callups and signings after
Would require Subban and Gusev to either sit out camp or come to camp without a contract

They have money to fill out the roster, just not with Gusev on it. |

Do you have a breakdown Jeff?
Based on Capfriendly, They're 2.2 over as of now
I figure they can clear 2.4 by sending Zykov, McKenzie and Reeves (1 million credit) down to the AHL, Any one else thay have (Carrier, Pirri, Nosek, etc) I think they risk losing
That only leaves them 200k below cap, which doesn't get a goalie on the roster (They can choose to play short on D for 1 game, but they need a backup goalie)
When Clarkson goes LTIR, That frees up the cash to recall Reeves and figure out 2 defensive spots (since you ideally need 7) and probably get Subban under contract for 1.5 million or less
How are you seeing it? |

The @GoldenKnights have a salary of $77,675,000 with this lineup: 81-71-19 67-26-61 73-21-89 7-92-28 75 88-27-3-22-15 29 There's $3.825 million left for their last two defensemen, an extra body, and their back-up goalie. #VegasBorn

Why aren't you factoring in Clarkson's salary? They have to be under the cap including LTIR on day 1. LTIR comes off on day 2. |
