I honestly did not think he should have made it through the summer. I just fear every time I look at a screen to see, another blundered trade, involving his team losing on its star players.

The oilers would probaly be a far better team if they fired chiapet, and just took there cues from the hockeybuzz message boards. The amount of information available to us on the daily as to before the social media take over, theres lots of people with the intelligence, just no formal training, or not knowing the right people!!!

Well, this so-called fan blog just got dropped from my favourite lists. While I don't pretend that Hockeybuzz will miss my few daily clicks, I just can't go on supporting an Oilers writer that doesn't support the team he supposedly roots for. Doesn't he know that's what drove his predecessor off this site??

Chiarelli should trade McDavid. Get a bunch of picks and it will help with the salary cap. Plus you won't have to protect him for the expansion draft.

Isn't that like changing banks every time you can't balance your bank book at the end of the month? Haven't you guys had enough high end picks?

How is he not supporting the team? You can be a loyal fan of the team and still recognize it's shortcomings

Let's shake it up first, though

Acquire Verhaeghe for a 2019 4th
Spooner, Bear and a 2020 1st for Nyquist and Jensen
Caggiula and Yamamoto for Toffoli and a 2019 2nd
Nurse for Kapanen and a 2019 3rd

Nyquist- McDavid- Toffoli
Verhaeghe- Draisaitl- Kapanen
Khaira- Nuge- Puljujarvi
Rieder- Brodziak- Kassian
Rattie, Lucic

Klefbom- Larsson
Sekera/Russell- Jensen
Jones- Benning
Gravel

Buyout Lucic (there's at least SOME savings), trade Sekera or Russell (whichever you can get the most cap space from). Use all the draft picks to stock the cupboards.

He IS supporting the team. He's just supporting it in the long term and not supporting those who run it in the short term.

I personally feel that even if the Oilers make the playoffs (I think they will), Chiarelli will still get fired at the end of the season. When Todd was fired MSM were very critical of the roster, Hitch is also blending the lines constantly looking for something that works. There's no way that goes unnoticed by ownership

No, he's suggesting firing the guy you have doing your finances because he's doing a bad job. Since the owner won't just step the (frank) in and do it, we have to go by the only metric we can imagine would get him fired: a non-playoff season.

Unfortunately for him, that's not true. Given that we're all online, he's a digital clock and when they're broken they're never right- they're just broken.

Personally I don’t feel the need to embrace the tank....what we need is for someone who actually has a clue to run a hockey team to come in and clean things up and make moves that will make us a better hockey club instead of always moving backwards.....tank nation clearly didn’t work out for us so perhaps a new approach is needed

This would be far more ideal then just saying (frank) it let’s try to get the best pick available....there are moves to be made that can improve the team I just know that Chia isn’t the guy to do it....fire Chia and bring in someone with a brain....it would be much better moving forward

Tank nation hasn't really worked out super well for you folks but maybe if you try for another 5 to 10 you might have better luck. That or just move the team to Quebec City.

Sorry you feel that way. I do support this team but I do not support the management system that has run this franchise into the ground. If missing the playoffs for one year means proper change can happen so be it

No one wants to tank, we want Chiarelli gone. If Katz wasn't such a putz and just fired people that failed at their jobs, then we wouldn't have to consider missing the playoffs to be rid of Peter. I'll happily take JUST missing the playoffs and not moving up in the lottery if it gets rid of Chiarelli. I'd happily except making the playoffs and losing in the first round if it gets rid of Chiarelli.

I'd sacrifice three of my favourite goats if it brought Yzerman to the post

Didn’t I just say tank nation failed and to do it different?
