Go flyers! Not a horrible game yesterday, but they seemed off at times for sure. Hopefully they put together a solid 60 minutes against the Rags. If they keep supporting each other, and work hard to be first to the puck, they should be fine.
I hope they don’t run Hart into the ground though. Kid needs a game off.

Time to get back to work and clean up those defensive lapses. I also agree that Hart should get the day off (well hopefully, assuming Mr. Glass can survive the game), you don't want to burn the kid out.

I was gonna say if he survives the pre-game warm ups but it's likely he strains something getting out of the car or putting the pads on before that even starts.

Praying to the hockey gods that Neuvirth doesn't tear his groin getting off the bus...

Let's make it a Merry Christmas with a win today, eh?

Finally, we agree on something.
My guess is he gets the bends coming down the elevator too fast.

It's really what good teams do after turnovers that matter the most.

My god Provy’s Play has dropped this year. I feel bad for the kid. Unless he really turns it around in the new year, this kids next contract is going to be tricky.....he went from what surely would be a 7-8 year deal to what may have to be a bridge deal. My concern is he plays like this again with his contract on his mind next year. I also hope they bring in a decent vet on the back end and take some pressure off his minutes.

Don’t disagree but most all teams give up goals off of turnovers. Scoring is up, even Tampa has the 6-5 games. I think the gafs for the Flyers are big ones, I get that but the rest of them seem to stand around and watch after the gaf

How he still has a job in this league is beyond me.

Bridge deal for provy? No way. I still give that kid 8 years. His recent play doesnt scare me away not one bit. If it drops the salary a little bit so be it. But I'm locking it up and running away with the key.

Sadly if Elliott or Stolarz were healthy right now, he'd likely have already been waived. Until someone gets healthy or they swing a deal after the Holiday freeze, he's pretty much their only option. I guess they could go with Lyon, but I get them wanting someone with experience as one of their goalies when the other is a rookie pro with only 3 NHL starts under his belt.

I'm not sure I'd go 8, but if I could sign him to a 6 year deal similar to that of Coots or Ghost, I'd be very happy.

Scoring is up in this league for sure...so much more speed and now most good hard checks are considered a penalty. Guys just free wheel through the neutral zone and very seldom do they get much resistance. Our D are making plays that shouldn’t be attempted and they are getting burned....it hasn’t helped that the goaltending has blown.

Really....what do you base it on....this years play or last years ? His play this year has been poor, really poor. I agree the kid is a gem, but I’m not sure there’s a fair number for either side at this point.

Oh (frank)....if he would take less then 6 mil per....then yes, by all means lock him up....but some young stars are getting 9-10 mil a year...there are some RFAs that will go even higher this year.

Kid had 2 great seasons and an injury to the end of last year and struggled in 30 games this year. Hes had some moments where hes back to himself certain games in thst stretch as well. If his play this year brings the cap hit down and we get lucky you telling me you couldn't do 8 years 6-6.5 million ? Would be the leagues best contract by the end the deal.

I base it on 160 games vs the 30 this year. This kids special. Everyone has slumps nobody is immune and hes what 21 ? If I can get him 8 years anything 7 or below i run straight to the bank with that check. By year 3 of that contract top 4 defenseman will be getting 10 per

For me it's a simple test. Do I see all the players on the ice, especially forwards, make the same commitment that they do to get back defensively that they do on a rush or on an offensive scoring chance. On 3 of the 4 goals that was not there. How do forwards go for a line change when the puck isn't securely out of their own zone or in deep in the offensive zone? There has to be layers of defense. Even then goals will be scored. Turnover will happen such as Provorov or defenseman will get beaten wide such as with MacDonald. The layers behind them failed.

They showed the picture from the previous game of how they protected the net and Gordon praised that commitment as he should. It wasn't there on all 4 goals. Its a shame because without those 4 self inflicted wounds, the Flyers would've had a good chance to win the game.

Solid deal for both sides. At least the talk of ridiculous deals such as 8 for 8-9M a year have calmed down.

See that’s the rub.....anything under 7 is a very good deal for the Flyers, considering his play before this year. I’m not so sure seeing what these other kids are getting that the player would sign for that. He could easily argue they are using him 25 minutes a night even in an off year (to this point anyways). I think if the Flyers come in at around 6.5 then perhaps the player suggest a one year deal, because last years version of Provy has all star written all over him. If he turns it around, which I really think there’s no reason he shouldn’t, then your talking Giroux $.
