Bozak is a solid 3C. No clue why Shaenah was ever considered an option. Played 82 games, most in a top 6 role with wings and put up 2 goals. But ya Bozak is probably an option that would come at a low cost. Please call up Sprong!!! |

Ironically, Scott Wilson was just traded to Buffalo for a 5th round pick. |

I think the only reason the Pens brought in Sheehan for is to use in a trade when they look to upgrade their 3C. I don't think Ruth had any expectations that he would hop onto the Pens and put up 20 goals (at least I hope not).
Sheehan + for Bozak will most likely be the deal. Just need to figure out how much that + will be. |

Could be coincidence... but the Pens as a team have been trending upwards since acquiring Sheahan on Oct. 21st. |

or you know... they finally got their poop together and it has nothing to do with getting just 1! player |

That's why I prefaced it with "could be coincidence..." like they might not be related at all. lol |

I could see Bozak Cole being the heart of a trade. Fills the need for both teams. |

No Sheahan will end up being the fourth line center. They brought him in to see if a change of scenery would spark some goal scoring it hasn't the only movement will be to the fourth line center. Hags is who we should be moving. |

I don't think he expected 20 goals but probably 10-15 range. Anyways I think Sheahan will stay for 4c Mckegg/Rowney will be the depth centers. And maybe the pens can move hags+ in a deal for Bozak. |

Why's everyone down on Sheahan? Despite a few glaring turnovers, he's been pretty solid. Physical on the boards, battles for loose pucks and has a pretty quick reaction coupled with solid vision when distributing after retrieval. He's been a decent play-maker on the bottom 6. I'm obviously hoping for an upgrade @ 3C, but pretty happy with Sheahan thus far. |

Yeah I think he's been fine. I think he'd be on pace for around ~30 points had he played the whole season in PIT. |

Like the article said, he's helping possession, just not scoring.
Team in general and the schedule have certainly helped, but Sheahan has done hos part to help possession. |

I'm not sure Rutherford ever really saw Sheahan as a permanent solution for 3C, but that doesn't mean that Ruth didn't want him for another role. Remember that we started the season with McKegg and Rowney as our bottom 6 Cs. McKegg and Rowney... Let that sink in... Neither should be NHL regulars and they were our permanent 3 and 4 Cs. Sheahan may have been a stop gap for 3C in Ruth's eyes, but he easily may be the permanent solution at 4C this season. He is a MASSIVE upgrade over McKegg and Rowney. |

He had a lack of options and had to do something. This was a simple low-risk/high-reward type gamble. He’s a perfect fit for eventually taking over 4C, but I’m sure JR knew he would likely have to make a bigger move.
He bought some time with a band-aid solution and I’ll be shocked if the Pens don’t upgrade at the deadline.
Personally, as much as I want to see the Pens do the three-peat, I think they’re better off riding this roster and be in a better position this off-season to deal from a position of strength rather than desparation. |

Yohe said a couple of weeks ago that Ruth knew Cullen was going to play this season and was counting on Cullen as a temporary 3c. He said the Pens were stunned he opted for the Wild. So Ruth made two mistakes in the center department. He thought Cullen was coming back and he thought it would be easier to make a trade for a legit 3c. Sheahan was probably plan C or D. Maybe even plan F. Sheahan is playing better, but he's not a 3c. I worry about Sheahans price tag as a 4c. Can't be paying him 2 mil for that slot.
Overall, JR had about as bad an off-season as a GM can have.
