My favorite Flyers of all-time. Was sad to see him go, and sad how his career ended up.
This will be a poopshow. |

Richards played well then the decline was insane.
Oh there will be some that come in and act like monkeys at the zoo. |

One thing I haven't seen mentioned is about how the depth of the prospect pool in my opinion will help these guys reach their ceilings. They all know that they have to perform better than the guy next to them to get their chance. When they look at the guys next to them and see multiple first round talents and other well respected players they know they have to put in the work to become better or they wont make it. Instead of the other side of the table where they might get complacent because they have no competition from their peers.
Just another reason to be excited about the future and dream that they all pan out the way we hope. |

I'll echo what many have already said, one of my favorite Flyers to ever watch play and extremely sad/disappointing to see how quickly his career went downhill. I still get chills watching "the shift", the dude was just a winner at nearly every level he ever played. |

Loved Richards while he was here. The Flyers got a great return for him. Looking back it was definitely the right move. He is set for life with the money he made in the NHL. Hopefully he can straighten out and live a fulfilling life. |

I think what you mention here is what happened to Laughton, not too much competition early on and now oh boy everywhere he looks is competition.
I truly hope the kid has a great year

It really does suck to see how Richards career spiraled towards the end. But hey he got his Cups. It's pretty crazy though...you see Richards already out of the league but Carter is still a top-sniper / goal scorer in the NHL. To be honest, I'm glad his career ended with the Kings when the arrest happened. I can't imagine the Philly media and fans if he was still on our team when that happened. |

Richards was a beast for this team the years coming out of 06-07 season. I was a fan since the Lindros days, but I started being a HUGE fan during that rebuild and Richards was at the head of it. Sad to see how it ended but he did get to be part of two cup teams. Decently successful career |

I was at the preseason game against the Hurricanes when they gave Mike the "C". It was a pretty elaborate ceremony, with many of the former captains there for it, all on the ice. Ed was the last person in line to shake Mike's hand, it was so cool to watch. And you just knew how bad Ed wanted him to be the real deal (just like the rest of us)...
And for a while he absolutely was. |

Well deserved. In his prime, when healthy, he was as dominant as anyone in NHL history. |
