Always one of my favourite players.

Loved how ornery he got on the ice once he was given back the C in the mid 2000s, after Andrechyuk retired. Became something approaching a power forward mentality, at times.

Too bad that couldn't have been the whole story of his career. With that frame and skating ability, would have been nice to see him be more physical in his earlier days.

But, oh well, still my captain!

My favourite Vinny memory was when he was a Flyer. Rookie Keegan Lowe beat him up in a fight so Vinny decided to jump him later in the game and got fed a few more times for it.

My favorite memory is how easily the pest Chad Larose could get under his skin. Larose could draw a power play out of Vinny almost every game by chirping at him and getting him to retaliate. It was funny. I would take my son to the games against Tampa and I'd tell him to just watch Larose when Vinny was on the ice. It was great entertainment.
