You know, for a complete dumbass, Jim Benning had a pretty good draft. Much better than the Leafs. But you're right, Flyers had a great draft weekend!!

"The Oilers. It's almost unfathomable how poorly Peter Chiarelli has done since being hired by the Oilers. He has done the impossible and made Kevin Lowe seem like a genius."

Dude what is wrong with you? Can you not at least give the guy a little bit of credit for having the balls to make change? The first playoff appearance in ten years and almost a trip to the conference final and this is the crap you are going to write hey? How are you allowed to even write this crap. Really man how do you even have a job on this site. The garbage you spew is embarrassing. Clearly these guys keep you around for the hits because they know everyone is going to comment on your crap. The guy took us from 29th to cup contender in two years.
Larsson for hall - turned out to be great, look how New Jersey is getting along, another first overall pick courtesy of your boy Taylor.
Patty Maroon signing, ducks retain half salary and Maroon has career year at 29. Great pick up by Pete. Kassian for Scrivens, Kassian ended up being one of or most impact players in the playoffs. Not to mentioned the depth signings of Drake and Benning who were also really impactful this year. Ebs I trade for Strome all day. Hes bigger, a better skater, more aggressive and a better all around player with a heavier shot and can score from outside. Talk all you want about what Ebs has done in the past, fact is it didnt do poop for us, we were still the worst team in the league. The isles arent getting 2013 Eberle, they are getting 2017 Eberle = 2 playoff points and 0 battle and heart. Oh and hes only 23. Nuf said, everything Eberle isnt. And the Luc signing was great for the team and locker room, just look at what the team says about him, its more than just numbers and dollars but you wouldn't know anything about that would you. Any true Oiler fan is completely happy with Pete at the helm and the moves he has been making and will support the moves or at least reserve judgement until we can see the final product, AKA the Hall for Larsson trade. Huge win. I see 5 or 6 great moves from Pete with only 1 bad move (Reinhart). Give him some more damn credit. Or maybe just stick to writing Arizona blogs, they are in the basement which is where your blogs belong.
Ban me or do whatever you want, this site is so toxic and full of negativity anyway.
You cant come here for good hockey talk and rumors because its so full pf people and blogs like this where everyone just rips on teams and GM's and give no credit whatsoever. Peace out.

Chirelli is a moron for not throwing a pick in his trades. i get he's trying to get rid money in Hall and Eberle trades and get a solid player in return. Larsson and Strome are lesser players and cheaper, but man he could have gotten at least 2nd from Isles for Everle. And a 1st for Hall (guess what pick would that become).

There is absolutely no data to suggest strome is anywhere near ebs offensively. You basically just attempted to frame a bunch of nonsense based on guesswork and maybes. Conjecture isn't actually a meaningful retort.

Ebs has like 25 goals and 60 points per 82 Gp over his career.
Strome is at like 28 pts. And He's actually 24 years old in like 2 weeks.
And 2017 ebs still outpointed strome by 21. Which was ebs poorest season and still more than stromes best season.

Any true oiler fan ? ! Who made you the purveyor of what constitutes a true fan ?
And the whole we should just support chia sounds like that moronic drivel Britney Spears said about supporting her president no matter what. SHe also thought Canada was overseas.....

He's made some good moves, (Maroon was a beauty)but Only one real bad move ?? wow, no.
The kris Russel signing was one of the worst moves any gm has made over the past year. And to do that right after creating the savings in the ebs trade is insane.

No ones gonna ban you. But it is probably best if you stop posting cause that was awful. Just awful

Lmao again, you are tossing out numbers from 5 years ago bud, what has Eberle done the last two years besides play soft and lazy and turn pucks over. Eberle had better numbers than Maroon too and look what happened his first full year in edmonton, scored more than Ebs at 29 years old loool. You are a joke. All you do is bash the oil.

I personally hate the argument that because the Oilers were good this year, Chiarelli's moves shouldn't be criticized.

People don't seem to realize that the Oilers played zero games with McDavid, Hall, Eberle, Klefbom, RNH and Yakupov.......they didn't even give it a chance.

The year before they made the Playoffs, they had one of the worst injury seasons in the NHL in over a decade. We have tons and tons of data that shows injuries are teh biggest factor in team success.

The Oilers should have kept all the guys they drafted, wrote off the first year of the Hall/McDavid partnership as bad luck and tried again.

If it doesn't work out, fine, but my problem has always been that they didn't even try.

Yes,they made a jump after signing Russel and trading for Larsson .......but that was during the first year McDavid played a full season and likely would have happened anyway. I honestly think you could have McDavid, Talbot and Klefbom and if they're all healthy you'll make the playoffs regardless of who else they have.

The pro Larsson argument is always as bad as the trade itself.

One thing I will credit PC for is the move to get Talbot. Very solid.

Actually, for a long time Tanner was one of their biggest cheerleaders, believing in their young upcoming talent. I'm inferring a little bit here, but I think he just doesn't agree with Chia's teambuilding/talent evaluation.

But you must get that you probably go that far regardless. The Oilers didn't make the Playoffs because they had Adam Larsson, they had the HART TROPHY WINNER and it was his first full year with the team.

That is the difference. We can only imagine what Taylor Hall could have done to secondary defensive units.

No those are his career averages. Like true first line winger numbers.

And last year ?
Ebs 51 pts- strome 30
Year before both missed a few games due to injury.
Ebs on pace for 55- strome in pace for 32

You don't have to like Ebs that's fine. But there's absolutely nothing you can say that proves strome is on his level or even close.
Sure hope that changes. But as of now...no

Joke indeed...
