Not the reason for any of the Kings problems. Sad to see him go, but heard they weren't going to resign him at seasons end, so might as well get something, even it's just cap space.

But now Iginla? The only person on the planet that can walk into the room and immediately have Sutter's respect and confidence, but what will it translate to? A slower Kopitar line? Bumping Brown off the 2ns PP unit?

Sheng, do you feel DL had to do something to save his job? I'm just not seeing it.

So, just to review, pending trade call, COL will send Jarome Iginla to LA for 2018 cond'l 4th round pick. COL to retain 50 per cent salary.

Hearing Colorado is retaining 50% of Iginlas salary, so I am praying the Kings do something else, because this trade is just like when the Kings brought back Scuderi last year.

Not sure that's necessarily a good thing... But maybe they can pick up Mark Sertich to compliment Iggy!

I think this trade will go over very well in Montreal, as the new King of Quebec will guide them to their long awaited secession from Canada.

miscast as a top line option for kopitar, but a solid solid bottom 6 guy. universally liked and respected...will balance out the toolbags like shaw and ott.

Everyone: "We need to get faster and get more goals"

Lombardi: "Great, gotchya a goalie, traded for a 39 y.o. who is slow and underachieving, benched Kempe."

the kempe benching is what kills me. give the kid a chance for chrissake. not like lewis, gabbo, etc have done anything more to warrant time with kopi.

If we were going on stats and stats alone, the Kings statistically got worse.

I definitely get that reaction, and don't necessarily disagree, but at least there wasn't some huge overpayment for a short term fix this year. Didn't have to give up that much for Bishop, who is a solid insurance policy for Quick, and if the Kings don't make the playoffs (or Iginla doesn't resign in LA) then Iginla cost them nothing.

Put Iginla on the 4th line, second unit PP, and put Kempe back in the lineup. If they make the playoffs, great, but if not oh well. Resign Toffoli/Pearson in the offseason and see about addressing the scoring/speed issues after that. They're still closer to the playoffs than I thought they'd be after the first period of the season.

Personally I think we should have shot our wad to get Landeskog and Dushene,

Give them Toffli, Muzzin, Gaborik and our 2nd rounder - fire matt greene, already dealt King. Team gets better - so LaDue and Gravel have to nut up a bit but this is what Dean promised us in the off season and he has gone the complete opposite direction.

In some ways I think bishop played better than quick, especially his puck play. I get that part and am not really complaining so much as pointing out the irony

Yeah, if on opening night 2017-18 we're starting the same roster as we are right now, then I'll be pissed. For right now, with a team I wrote off once Quick went down, meh. Just thankful it wasn't a repeat of trade deadlines past.

Hopefully someone like Duchene/Landeskog can be brought in over the summer, but I'm not holding my breath.

Sheng is still compiling the positive spin article on Iggy. I get that we paid nothing and they retained salary, but c'mon here, this is the last act of a desperate man

As much as I'd like Duchene or Landeskog, I wouldn't hold your breath. With RFA for Pearson, Toffoli. Gravel and Forbort it looks pretty slim chance. Keep in mind Doughty will be asking for a pretty penny in a few years...Only hope is to get Gaborik off our payroll..

Id like to see Gabby sat. Kempe back with Kopi. And rotate Iggy and Brown on the right side. I also think Iggy will benefit from out system more than what was going on in Colorado. But we shall see.

I thought the Gaborik, Shore, Lewis line was the best line on the ice for either team a few nights ago in Minnesota.

He also had the feet moving pretty well for most of last night as well. I wouldn't mind giving the Gaborik-Kopitar-Kempe line another shot to see if it works now that Gabo seems to be playing at speed again.
