I for one am glad to see Burrows and DD back in the line up.

Hopefully Tanev plays well and can be that top 4 D that Mtl is looking for.

Thanks as always Carol!

Burrows......"It was an optional skate this morning, but I'd pay to skate on this ice!"

Really? Then how about waiving for MTL and a late draft pick?

I agree, I said we go 5-3-3 over our next 11 and I think it starts tonight with a blowout.

Eriksson with a hat-trick.

Vilardi would definitely be my target if we get in the top 5. similar size and skill to Patrick but almost a year younger. We should select Strome with our 2nd round pick and then our future center problems are likely solved. Strome is a pretty brutal skater but his brothers figured it out

Optional #Canucks morning skate. Burrows and Tanev are skating, no Dorsett, Sutter, Eriksson, Edler or Sedins.

Back when I played sports, I used to spend every available minute I could playing. Whenever my teams had optional practices, I was there. Because that was extra time to play a sport I loved. I wanted to spend every waking minute playing. Even if I was sore or injured.

But...

Every single team-mate I ever had skipped these things. You couldn't pay them to go to anything optional. And, no matter how much you begged and pleaded, none of them would ever go and play a game of pick-up on the weekends. The only time you ever got to play with your team-mates was during games (at practice, you were just running drills). So, the teams never gelled. No one was ever used to playing together. No one ever meshed with anyone else. It was like a team of strangers playing together. Actually, it wasn't 'like' a team of strangers, it actually was a team of strangers. Every single game, you were playing with people you'd never played with before. And, every single game, there were mistakes that would never have happened if the team was used to playing together.

And, not the least bit surprisingly, we never won poop.

I've noticed this with the Canucks too over the years. It seems to be a job for them, not a game (the notable exception being Burrows). They don't want to go out and play a game with their team-mates. They want to come to practice, do what's required of them, and leave. And, if it's not required, they don't do it.

When you've got one of the worst teams in the league, it's pretty depressing seeing half the team skip an optional practice (after several days off, no less).

You can thank the NHLPA for that. they negotiated mandatory days off and optional skates/practices into the last few CBA's. 'Maintenance days' will become 'maintenance weeks'.

The players have rights you know...and feelings...

It's actually good for us he got sent down, because we are a worse team without him.

I like Mittelstadt and Rasmussen but they are probably around the 10 spots. I know we have been bad recently but I think this team and specifically its "stars" have a lot more to give and I don't doubt they will deliver.
