I didn't. Their defense is brutal and they seem to deploy their players based on a formula of who is oldest gets the most ice time!

They have been real good in international competition the last few years and they have the speed and grit to compete. I like their chances more than the U.S. although no one really has much of a chance if Canada plays near their potential.

How dare they start a worse goaltender in a pre-season game.

Team NA all the way.

Oh and Tanner.. "Overall, the Fins were probably the better team"

They were better the last 5 minutes of the game.

Rask's numbers have declined pretty sharply the last two years. and the year before that he was terrible in the playoffs. not sure he's such a slam dunk over Rinne.

that being said if Cory Schneider doesn't get the call for the US something is wrong with Tortorella

"The USA made the decision to start Quick over Schneider, with no apparent regard for the guy who is widely considered to be one of the two or three best goalies in the world. "

Are you making the assumption that Quick is not a good enough goalie to start? This is the same Quick who gave up only 1 goal to a better Team Canada for 2 periods vs Schneider who gave up 4 goals to the weaker Canadian team?

I don't know about that. Like I said, the score effects make it seem like that, but even as they built a 3-0 lead, its not like the USA was really outplaying them.

I don't think either team played all that well, but I would say team USA had the edge most of that game.

Laine is a (frank)ing monster though.

Can't believe that kid is 18.

I'm just saying. Cordell crying over Schneider. All of it. If they start making these decisions when the games matter a little more, then start the criticism. But we're talking about pre-tournament games here.

Personally i dont think it is wrong to have Quick be the number 1. He is a big game player, has the hardware to back it up. Also, IF USA gets smoked and quick is in net, people cant bash torts for that decision as much as if schneids got lit up theyd say he has no experience etc etc.

I do think over an 82 game season schneid is far better, but i understand starting quick.

Saying schneids doesnt deserve to play because of the 4 goals in game 2 is dumb tho. USA just beat Canada the day before, Canada was home and USA took dumb penalties. That was a lose lose situation for schneids... Basically any goalie who starts against canada the game after they lose is going to get lit up.

This is where you lose all credibility with anything you wrote. First of all it's an exhibition game and even if it wasn't, Quick has proven time and again that he a clutch goalie. He has a few Stanley Cups and an Olympic silver medal on his resume. Has Schneider won any of those? Didn't think so.

that shouldn't matter. it's not a legacy competition. it's a question of who is the better goalie right now and i think Schneider is.

How could Finland bench one of the best defensive forwards in the world in Teravainen (according to Tanner)?

Legacy=experience. It factors into a coach's decision making process. It's your opinion Schneider is better and obviously not one shared by Torts.

Not a huge fan of Torts, but I would start Quick over Schneider and Bishop.
