Jakub Skrarek had the best performance by a goaltender at this tournament that I have ever seen. In the Gold Medal game he was insane. The US were dominating the puck in the first two periods and he kept them in it.
The defensive pairing of Galvas-Salda was also the best in the tournament. Galvas was pushing the offense every chance he got and was extremely smart in his pinches. Salda stopped three one on ones that could have turned out badly in the first period alone, two on Poehling who was the Americans best player in the first in my opinion. In a fun twist of events, I doubt very much that either Galvas or Salda even get drafted this year, or if they do in the very late rounds. |
