Not the very best scenario but as you mention JJ it's workable at a low price and with his flexibility. He also has some back class (61 points 5 yrs ago with FLA) but Q did scratch him 3 times vs STL in the playoffs.
Pretty good advanced numbers with a 53% Corsi with only 47% OZ starts as a Hawk.
I'm a little surprised that no one scooped up Versteeg. Maybe he goes and plays a year overseas in hopes by the time he comes back, his beloved Blackhawks have cap space.
Thank your friend for his wonderful mission in life. - powerenforcer
I will, but you can thank him, too, I think they take donations as little as $10. All the money, literally, goes right back in to helping someone go see a relative. Email Matt to donate your miles.

Only potential issue with Fleischmann is that he has a blood clotting condition which could in theory restrict his minutes and require him not to be exposed to many opportunities to get cut while playing. The blood thinners present a bleed control risk.
Not seeing 1LW as a low risk role for his condition, but that is an issue for him and his docs to determine. Also could explain why he went from $4MM plus to under $1MM today.
I like the idea of a Fleischmann-Kruger-Hossa line. Spells defense and forecheck. - 93Joe
Was Fleischmann hurt at the end of last year? Or did he run out of gas? He had some jump when he got here and then kind of disappeared. He also does not scream speed. Could he keep up with Hossa and Kruger?
I for one am okay if they do sign Tomas, to me based on last year we really really really missed a #4 defenseman which had a compound effect on the 3rd pairing. I think we'll see a hungrier more focused team, do we have holes, you betcha but one of the keys to success for the Hawks has been defense, and giving up at least 20 more goals this past year over years past was a big part of it. If Kempny adjusts to the smaller rink and understands Q's defense this may be a very interesting year. Besides they will have options before the trade deadline as well since Bowman is showing he's willing to make moves to better our team
With Versteeg signing outside the NHL makes me believe there might be a bigger issue we don't know about as in behavior, cough cough like someone getting up late for practice or maybe just allegedly doesn't know when to say when the night before both those players have NHL talent.
I think Vesey is holding up a Hudler signing. IMO Hudler would be awesome with Toews and Hossa. Fleischmann would burn out by December. Vesey is likely going to Boston 60%, if not he will take up the offer to play with Crosby. We will see. Buffalo is out or he would have signed by now. Toronto, ties are there but not likely.
Pros:
Cheap/Value price tag
Occasionally flashes some nice skill
Decent penalty killer
NHL Experience
Known commodity
Cons:
Health/durability
Inconsistent - His time with the Hawks he was very hot and cold.
Limited offensive upside - Realistically I can't see him breaking 30 points in his NHL career again.
Not very physical
Age - His best years are behind him
Just my opinion, but I would pass on him. There are reasons why he has had very few 82 game seasons. (He is no stranger to IR or the press box)
When he played with the Hawks he didn't bring it every shift and he would go through the motions for long periods of time. If the Hawks do sign him, I would hope it is for very close to the league minimum. I would love to be wrong and he gets a contract and finds his game, but I don't know that he has what it takes to fill the needs the Hawks have.
Those needs IMO are speed/grit/energy/puck possession/puck protection. Personally, I just think the Hawks are going to go ahead with the pieces they have.
Better yet just get Vadim Shipachyov signed sealed and deliverd by December. Just hang in till he gets here. Ship/Kane/Panarin Toews/Anisomov/Hossa Done!

Probably best suited for the 3rd and 4th line. He plays decent defense and just going off of what Q said "Kruger and Hossa" I thought it would be an ok compliment. There was a good deal of questionable lineup decisions late it the season and into the first round... Not sure if he was injured. I think he'd be able to keep up - not the fastest but can compliment their game.
