I liked Emery in his time here but at this point I would rather see Stolarz than Emery. I hope there is nothing more to this.

I'd be surprised if Emery gets a start. I think he only plays if-God forbid-Mason gets hurt or if there's a blow out and they need mop up duty.

If Jason Labarbera had not been hurt, I think it's likely he would have been called up instead of Stolarz. This also allows the Flyers to get Stolarz some game action in the AHL. If Mason does-Jesus, Allah, Buddha forbid-get hurt and misses time, I think they'd recall Stolarz to start ahead of Emery.

Rumors abound about Konecny being in Philly after injuring his shoulder and not playing in his playoff game tonight. He has had a lot of shoulders issues in recent years. Perhaps he needs surgery -- it's all up in the air in the rumor mill right now.

He decided against surgery after each of the last two injuries. Maybe they figure it's just time to fix the issue once and for all and have the kid fully healthy for camp.

Per Hextall, Stolie is still the No. 2 guy -- has practiced well. There's no 3rd guy with LaBarbera out for the season.

Guess we will see. Just seems like a perfect time to get Stolie in a game or three.

It's the right call absolutely. But even if he gets major shoulder surgery and his timeline matches up with camp, he will not be able to work out and improve over the offseason. It could really put a crimp in any chance he had to make the team out of camp. It's a long time away, but this could be the reason for sending him back. Or maybe they do what Pietrangelo did.

Emery, Seriously ? You have to be kidding me. Where's the scouting, to bring in a veteran on the cheap ?

Still think stollie will get Ottawa. Really interested to see how negotiations go with schenn. Do they buy two years of free agency

Yeah, I think he played through it as long as he could. Hopefully it's not a major issue that hurts his summer training. Worst case, he starts his junior year late and the Flyers get another slide year on his ELC

The possibility that emery will be on the bench tomorrow night is hilarious.

Regarding coots, I've been critical lately but not because of the lack of goals. It's his effort, especially in puck battles if you can even call them that, that have bothered me. He seems disengaged, weak on the puck a lot of the time. Eye test. No fancy or even regular stats to support this.

I'm a big fan. I want "knock down toewes and stare him down" coots.

You can't not play Stoli now and expect him to be a No.2 option in the playoffs. Not only has he not played a single NHL game, he will not have done anything except ride the pine for weeks and possibly have to come in against the hottest team there is in the playoffs.

Just a little funny Emery gets a tryout on the eve of the Washington game. When he pounded Holtby into dust. Thus turning the season around after a 7-0 defeat. Just saying.

On a serous note, just goes to the faith or lack thereof in Stolarz. At least Emery has playoff and Cup experience under his belt. Albeit more rust than Stolarz.

Bill also tweeted that Hexy says both Stolarz and Emery are staying with the Flyers. Neither is going to AHL

Emery can't play in the playoffs; plus Neuvy would be back. I don't think there's a chance Emery or Stolie start a game, so it's just getting a warm body who is familiar with the room.

Wait what? I thought Stolie was getting games in -- that's why Emery was picked up. This is getting stranger.

Hextall said Labarbera is out for the year, so Emery is just there as a 3rd guy.

But why not play one of them in the AHL in case they're needed

Weird. Two goalies for practice if mase is resting?

So how does rays contract work on a pto? He can dress and backup and not just practice, but obviously not eligible for playoffs regardless of michals status.

If neuvy is done for the regular season. Emery is insurance if Mason goes down before the regular season ends. In 10 the flyers played 3 goalies to get to the cup finals

Why not just let Stolie finish the year in the A? We know they are no way starting Emery; it looks like the start Stollie ship has sailed. Probably riding Mason all the way. What the heck is Emery doing then? Providing morale and homemade baked goods?

To me, I'd let Ray back up as long as he practiced a bit here and looked good. If love to get stollie a game, but there's a lot of pressure in the games at this point. They might not want to throw him into that. Also, God forbid mase goes down.

Love Razor but I'd feel a whole lot more comfortable starting an AHL all star than a guy with no lateral movement who was shown to be cooked as recently as last year, and whose current year has consisted of a lackluster 6 AHL and 8 DEL games....
