The fact that Higgins, Prust, Burrows, Weber, Bartkowski are all considered expendable should be good news for the future. The first 3 had solid NHL careers going into 15/16. Weber and Bart were looking like they had good journeyman futures in front of them.

Question now is can the kids that have replaced them actually turn out to be an improvement?

I like the fact the rest of the country hates the Canucks. You won't find me cheering for another Canadian team in the playoffs. If the Canucks miss or are out early, the only other team I might keep a bit of an eye on is the Panthers. Everyone else can suck it.

The Daniel/Perry fist bump after Perry scored to make it 1-0 was awkward AF.

Anyways, someone mentioned last week they were happy that Clendening found a new hotel to call home ( ). This gives Edmonton a surplus of defensemen, and I doubt anyone (including the oilers) is going to qualify Justin Shultz (for $4M) as an RFA. SO...

We know he can't play Defense. We know his shooting % is far too low given where he takes his shots from. But if you could trade Weber and low level prospect or late round pick, would you bring in Shultz for the remainder of the season just to see if he's worth a contract to be our 6th Dman (and RH PP option) next season.

I wouldnt give up anything for him other than another cap dump/UFA. I wouldnt give up any prospect for him at all. I would offer him a low contract in the summer, he might be alot better on the 3rd pairing and 1st PP type like Krug in boston type.

I wouldnt mind Schultz. trade weber and a 6th for schultz and see where it leads us.

Low risk trade with higher upside.

lol...the only two CDN teams I have a problem cheering for if need be is Leafs and Habs. Would really like to see WPG do something this aint their year. I would give a little nudge to EDM CAL or OTT if need be.

FLA? No way don't care about the Lou connection whatsoever. shouldn't even have a team in that city but Buttman (7 more years without a CDN champion) and his merry band of idiots love to have Hockey in markets where it makes no sense. 7 more years of that clown...lovely...

Lou will choke FLA out of the playoffs anyway.

Its actually my biggest fear that JB as per FA start adding rental players at the deadline. This team is one of the worst in the league adding a couple players like Ladd or Erickson(if the rumours are true) is going to do nothing but make our team worse in the long run.

I think the Canucks and their fans need to embrace the us-against-the-world attitude and not worry about what anybody else thinks.

the rest of the country can frank themselves...

Mackenzie Stewart and Weber for Schultz

But just go over to the Oilers board, and they will gladly tell you how terrible this guy is.

Darren Dreger said on TSN the other day he has very little if any trade value.

Then he gave this crazy statistic
"In his first 11 NHL games Justin Schultz had four PP goals.
He scored one in his next 236"

Florida is interesting to me. I have always like Luongo, still do. I like Mitchell and Ekblad and I am very impressed with what Jagr is doing. It's not those guys fault that they play in bad hockey market.

that guy just regurgitates stuff others have already reported imo... imo the guy is a turd who knows nothing about B.C., the Nux, or their fans...

quoting him only lowers the credibility of the argument...

If Benning gets rid of all the vets this summer I would be all for signing Shultz. This team needs a whipping boy and he would be a perfect fit.

I agree. It was more of a shot aimed at Vantel.

I won't listen to 1040 anymore. Terrible.

Why fire anyone? JB and crew are doing the job most people want to see. Last season they touted change but it's this season that they are actually doing what they promised.

Fair points to be sure...just from a personal standpoint it's tough for me to cheer for ANY American team let alone one that shouldn't exist.

Having said that I do like what coaching and MNGT have done in FLA...they have put together a fine team there and with the big and heavy moniker they may be able to steal a round or two.

Linden said it was coming and now it's here. WD...Benning..Linden have all done a fine job so far IMO and if WD keeps starting Miller down the stretch we are virtually guaranteed top 6...

As much as Schultz is a big disappointment, Edm isn't going to do us a favor in moving a pending RFA for a pending UFA and a late pick.

I would also support going after Schultz but don't think he could be had for that little.
