I'm with you (and MB) up to the point before they acquired John Scott: underachieving prospect for another underachieving prospect? Good hockey deal, gives both players and teams fresh starts, minimal risk outside of one far exceeding the other, but no other hangovers like cap hits or contract limits, etc.
But why Scott? Why would MTL take on that contract and reputation? |

Just purchased tickets to the MTL-BUF game on March 16th. You guys think you could play John on that day (and sit Carey)? |

John is an All Star Captain. Must have top line potential. |

Bergevin hasn't done much other than acquiring fringe nhl talent. Now they can't seem to develop draft picks either. Bad combo. |
|
|
|
Barberio can replace Beaulieu if they have to trade him to acquire a signicant forward piece. There is not a big drop off. Besides that the Habs are screwed. They have nothing they can trade that will bring back a real top 6. |

They could acquire top 6 help without sacrificing Beaulieu, the depth on good D is too thin to trade him, Barberio is not a top 4 D and if you trade Beaulieu and ask Barberio to play big minutes you'll find out why he's not a top D |

You have no one else that has value to bring back a top 6. |

They don't have assets to bring in Jamie Benn or Patrick Kane but they do have the means to get a player who has more offensive upside than Eller, which would be an upgrade in their top 6... there's a wide gap between franchise player and a journeyman 25 goal scorer but both would still be considered a top 6 forward and there's at least 10 wingers who could be moved from now till D-day that could be had without giving up Beaulieu, even if it's of the rental variety |

He's done very little in 4 years to improve the on ice product. You could handle the lack of acquisitions of his draft picks were starting to contribute but there's nothing there either, and there's very little help on the way in the next year or two from within. |

Beaulieu will get you back the best return. A temporary fix is not what the Habs need. |

Creating a huge hole on the back end won't fix anything, I'd rather they go the rental route now and try their luck at a FA in the summer than trade Beaulieu... |

So they are screwed! They need Price back and he needs to steal games to camouflage the glaring whole in the line up. |

Beaulieu is not a consistent top 4. He was not last year either. They can go with a rental on D instead of on the O. They have a good base on D. Time to address the O. |

I don't agree with this at all, not gonna get a D as good, as young and as cheap as Beaulieu through free agency |

So you would not trade Beaulieu and a prospect for Drouin? |

I wouldn't trade Beaulieu straight up for Drouin |

Wow! I would drive Beaulieu to the airport personally if it was straight up for Drouin! Name any other player or players that you would package to get him from Tampa? |

Scherbak, Andrighetto, DSP, Hudon, Pateryn, DLR, picks but no 1st... if a deal can't be worked out anywhere with those pieces than the Habs should move on to something else |

Quite tired of his act.
Runs Goalies and then wears that silly Grin. Gallagher gets what's coming to him and soon! |

Yea cause Drouin is a slam dunk of a superstar, if only he could crack an NHL line up I'm sure he would catch fire and the Habs would be set for years... he may even break Gretzky record for most goals in one season this year.... cause there have been so many french Canadian prospects who have broke on to the scene and dominated in recent memory right? You can add as many as you wish but it doesn't make you right kid |
