Carol Schram: Vancouver Canucks Game Review: Hanging on to Salvage a Point in L.A. After a nasty loss in Anaheim on Monday, the Vancouver Canucks hung on to push their game to overtime against the Los Angeles Kings at Staples Center on Tuesday.

Oh great no Sutter for the next month and a half. That means more non-producing Bo Horvat minutes. i have a feeling Jared McCann will be the 2C by Christmas. Bo just can't handle it and it is showing.

I heard that rationale as well but it still doesn't make sense to me.

Higgins was clearly rocked and at the very least must of been a bit questionable, they already had a Dman up as insurance for Tanev, so calling up Biega put all their eggs in one basket.

I don't like the idea of bringing up a player with no intention of getting him the lineup if you need him. Calling Pedan up if they had no faith in playing him hurts the Comets and his development there and is a waste of a healthy body with the big club IMO.

I'm not arguing, Trying to understand it too.

Maybe Pedan plays too big and heavy, WD wants the undersized underdog? Call up Vey.

Curious to see if Kenins can get his game back, but I think i'd rather see Grenier back up.

Thanks for the Blog, Carol.

I'm glad you brought up the brutal November schedule we have just gone through, obviously good team find ways to win regardless but this isn't a good team, it is an average one.

This team will start winning games again soon.

Why would you ask the fans? we have no input into decisions on this team.

Looking forward to seeing Kenins back, I hope he gets a bit more breathing room than Grenier/Shinkaruk/Gaunce got when called up.

Still a valid question. I was hoping someone could answer that question as well...

WD has trust issues.

The problem with this, is the players WD trusts to get it done, haven't been able to get it done.

Maybe coaching staff are looking for a forward who will actually throw a hit other than Virt. The realized they don't have one...

At least with Torts I expected to lose nightly due to his horrific "coaching" methods. I feel like this team should be winning games but they're just sucking at all the wrong moments. Its heart-breaking to watch. I've watched the Nucks since I was ten (I've lived most of my life on the east coast so staying up until 1230am to begin watching a game isn't fun) especially when they lose and you get to bed at 3am and have to work the next morning (thankfully I live in Ontario now) but I think this is the most frustrating Nucks team I've ever watched, even worse than the Coultier days. So many skilled players making horrible plays night in night out. Shockingly, The vets are the worst ones - I'd love to see Dorsett gone (he's absolutely useless), Burrows (times up, thanks for the service but you're the new Bieksa), Higgins (nope, just nope), Hamhuis (good god man, what are you doing?), Edler (remember when you were a decent, puck moving, PP scoring Dman?), Vrbata (what happened to you man??) WD, if youre gonna bring up a kid, let them play a few games, what's with this one game up - 5mins of play - and then back to Utica??? It's counterproductive - let them get settled - Grenier, Gaunce, Shink, Pedan, Fedun all looked good but they need more time, not all at once, but 3-5 games per call up. Soooo much to say......wish I was Carol.....

it's nuts, you guys have a number of prospects that could fill in at forward on the 4th line. I'm more incredulous than really asking.

I almost watched the game last night just because I wanted to see Pedan play, he was a kid I thought would be fun to see in the NHL. hopefully he'll get another shot on d.

It sounds like he was only brought up for a tour of the facilities and to sample the new hot dogs. The nucks got hit with a few injuries and gambled on some of them being healthy enough, which didn't happen and they were forced to use him as a forward.

I was really hoping to see him on defense and how he would handle clearing the front of the net.

tight game or blow out, WD just doesn't want to play prospects late in the game.

Part of the problem is I don't think the veterans trust the rookies all that much and are trying to play out of their comfort zones to protect them from having to take everything all at once. It doesn't help that our defense has more holes than swiss cheese that are big enough to drive a truck through.

Yup, would of been nice to see him play his position. It would be nice to see the kids get more chances but with the exception of McCann none have really earned it.

Our D was our biggest issues last year too, while Hutton was a nice surprise, Benning hasn't done anything to improve it other than asking a couple of bottom pairing guys (Bartkowski, Weber Sbisa) to play above their heads.

Add in that Hamhuis is playing his worst stretch of hockey in a long time.
