Put JV on the long term IR so he can do a conditioning stint in the AHL on his way back in the lineup |

I do hope they send him to the wjc.
I compared the front of the Canucks net to a bus stop with everyone just standing around, but I think the bus stops in Vancouver are less friendly than the area in front of Miller and Markstrom.
ffs, just stick Pedan in for a game or two against the heavier teams. We've already seen the absence of any push back from the existing d corps. |

It still boils my blood about that backbreaking 2nd PP goal by Anaheim. How can 4 PRO hockey players decide to ignore taking the body and sit on their asses next to and behind Miller and watch as the puck is shoveled into the net. The FIRST thing they teach you in hockey... TAKE THE BODY! If you take the body and tie up the man, chances are the goalie gets a chance to get into position to make a save and control the rebound for the clear. |

I don't see what he would learn at WJC, whereas a brief spell in Utica would be a good for him as far as competition goes IMO. - neem55
Learn? why couldn't he learn anything from wjc? what has he learned so far by playing with the Canucks? he is in over his head or team mates don't take care of each other on the ice in the NHL?
a conditioning stint in Utica would be okay too.
When it comes to development, I have nothing against sending JV back to Jr. I like him in the lineup here, but JV still has some developing to do, it is not like it would hurt him to go back to jr. It should make him more hungry to make the club next year, give him something to prove.
We have guys in Utica that have earned the shot just as much or more than JV. |

word.
very disappointing, the effort, and looking at the pic CS posted, it is, 23 and 5, our 2 most physical dmen that are minding the crease and not taking the man.
Burrows and Horvat are both there too, Burrows should know you are supposed to take the man in front, Horvat has to be a bit more physical too. |

Ben Kuzma @benkuzma .
#Canucks having optional game-day skate. No Higgins. Took hard hit to head from big rookie Ritchie in Anaheim. Tanev skating.
I'd rather see Gaunce or Grenier on the wing than Pedan,... can't see why they would recall Biega a dman when we might be short a forward. |

Hey WD, if you want to experiment, put Pedan on d and call up another forward. Why have a rookie dman play his first NHL game on the wing of the 2nd or 3rd forward line?
Maybe it is a game time decision, but it seems like it could be managed better. |

#Canucks likely to dress 7-D tonight (18 and 20 out) and Willie says Weber is the best forward of all the defencemen. Fun

Don't understand, why would they recall Biega and not a forward? Pedan was already here in the press box.
I want to be critical of WD, but unsure if what I want to see would be any more than rearranging the chairs on the Titanic.
We really miss Sutter and have been slipping ever since he got injured.
waiting on the spin from management. |

Could today be the 'wheels falling off the bus day' that we all reflect back on in the spring?
Or could it be 'moral victory day' part 2? |

Yesterday's game was a great teaching moment for the young guys. Virtanen gets a good lesson on what it's really like in the NHL. He may have been the big boy in junior and for the most part has been allowed to hit guys in the NHL so far. Now Getzlaf shows him how the big mean men play. McCann was tossed around like a doll by Kesler and Getzlaf. Good on him for getting up and going after Getz. How he responds tonight and the coming weeks will be a good indication of his fortitude and character.
And Pedan as a winger? WTF. I'm starting to wonder about Willie's sell by date. At the beginning of the year, I thought he had a pretty good shelf life, but over the last few weeks I'm beginning to wonder if he's like a perishable item that someone forgot to put back in the fridge. Getting rotten sooner than expected. |

About two hours ago I was wondering exactly if they would make him a forward. Seems they don't trust his skating |
