They should make Rob F'ing Scuderi coach It is probably the only way to get him out of the starting lineup. And why are you putting that idiot out there over and over in the last ten minutes of the game and you are down a goal. You shorten your bench with deadweight like Suckderi I just do not get it

Where have hot starts/first halves of the season gotten the Pens the past 6 seasons? They were 12th in the east in February in 2009 and went on to win the cup. There's boat loads of time to right this ship. I think it's time for a little shuffling of the top two lines. We know for a fact that Horny and Crosby are great together. Last night in their limited time Malkin and Kessel looked good together. Just swap them and see already.

Also, How could the coaching staff think that sitting Scuderi one game to see how it goes could possibly hurt anything?

There definitely should have been a penalty on the Plotnikov play.

Plotnikov should have got 2 for embellishing, or diving... take your pick. No way the habs deserved a penalty there.

Re: The tripping non call... Due to the wonderful pirouette done there, I'm guessing the refs thought there was at least equal parts embellishment to infraction, and decided to let it go instead of calling both. And let's face it, when a Habs fan screams embellishment, you know you're a little guilty, because we (unfortunately) know a fair bit about it. There were poor calls both ways, yours just sting more due to the loss.

The most frustrating thing is to see the defensive problems not addressed. I mean I don't know if Johnston thinks he is bullet proof or made of Teflon but his evaluation of talent is questionable at this point. This is especially true on the back end. And the ship has not sunk yet, it's true. However if you wait till you are 0-10 to make changes you put yourself in a very poor position.

This is actually really funny, Scuds would honestly be a good NHL coach; his hockey IQ is very high; his skill set not so much.

Pretty much sums it up. Plus an 0-3 start makes it feel worse.

I'm getting tired of people ripping Scuderi! Did you see that great pass he made to the ref last night? It was a thing of beauty.

Clear penalty on Montreal. Ridiculous it wasn't called.

if you call the hook on that, you have to call the spinorama dive.

Well...Mike Smith did win a star of the week I believe....but yeah... It's really early and the people jumping off cliffs for any team is kinda amusing.

Looked like he embellished a bit with his spinorama which probably negated it in the refs eyes.

Refs also called DSP at the end of the game on a race with kessel where he played the puck which was pretty soft.

That said there will always be some missed calls here and there.

I went to the Kings' game last night against Vancouver. They are having similar struggles as the Pens. I think Suter is on much thinner ice at this point. It felt like I was watching the Drew Doughty show. He and their 4th line seemed to be the only players who showed up to play. There was one sequence where Brandon Sutter got absolutely decimated at the redline after taking a pass while he was cherry-picking. Best play of the night, by far...

And I went to the Caps-SJ game. And although Ovie didn't play and they still don't have Backstrom back, there aren'y any playmakers on that team. Kuznetsov looked horrible. I think if the young guns don't step up, it will be a similar story for the Caps, Ovie or no Ovie.

this is a weird start to the year. The metro really looks weak so far (granted it's so early)

I wasn't surprised by columbus (think they're overrated) and I was expecting the pens defense to be the problem, not scoring. should turn around, but crosby is killing my hockey pool.

Why would you have Crosby anyway? You should drop him, the guy is a washed up bum...

That was obviously a make-up call because they knew they F'd up the non call. Typical NHL reffing trying to put the genie back in the bottle.
