I thought enigmatic was the word older hockey people used to say "I don't like Russians"

I want you to know that this post made me work out an Enigm-eh-tic pun that captures the spirit of Canadian Intrigue

At his ceiling I see Chase as a Perron type of player. Can produce points, isn't overly big, but uses the size he has to be an agitator. Even if he can produce moderate offence and be a third line contributor that would be an unbelievable steal from a 7th round pick.

Perron had 28 goals and a 57 point season with you guys, didn't he? Chase will probably never get that.

Watching him play for the Hitmen; he seemed to have "AHL" written all over him.

I would be amazed if he ever reaches 40 points. I'd be amazed if he panned out as an NHL regular actually. Not trying to flame. Just offering my opinion.

I'd probably call his ceiling Andrew Shaw. Like a 30P agitator that can play both sides of the puck.

he is a 7th round pick, so the odds were never great. I like his potential though

Not in my top 10 because I'm only including 1 goalie and it will be Brossoit, but he really does look like a legit prospect.

All reasonable points. I think there is a 0.00001% chance of him producing like Perron, just looking for a comparable NHL player to describe his production as a junior.

IF he does become an NHL regular it would probably be as a fourth line, maybe third line player if he can produce. His size and grit should translate to the NHL, like many others before it is scoring that could keep him out.

I know less about him than I would like in order to place him in the top 10 but he's had success in the WHL and Finland. I personally wont have a good read on him and where he fits until he gets through this coming season in North America as a pro.

IMO chase looked like the 4th best prospect in the oilers prospect camp, has some sweet hands and hockey sense. I think he will be a valuable piece to this team in a few years.

The offenssive lines are pretty set in my mind:

Pouliot - NugentHopkins - Eberle
Hall - McDavid - Yakupov
Korpikoski - Lander - Percell
Hendricks - Letestu - Klinkhammer

But what about the defensive pairings ..is this right?

Sekera - Schutlz
Klefbolm - Fayne
Ference - Gryba
Nurse - Reinhart

Talbot
Scrivens

I doubt you are far off- but what the (frank)

Are you more an Oilers fan than a Sens or you just looked up proposed lines on one of the other blog sites? Further- how did you avoid the JB-Ban session while all the others were hit hard and heavy?

As much as most Oiler fans would like to forget about Nikitin, he's still on the team. It's probably closer to the following with Nurse and Reinhart in the AHL.

Sekera - Fayne
Klefbolm - Schutlz
Ference - Gryba
Nikitin

I have no idea how training camp will work out, but I believe the oilers are gonna give the benefit of the doubt to reinhart as it sounds like they really want him in the big club.

If I had to guess;

Sekera, fayne
Klefbom, Schultz
Reinhart, gryba
Nikitin
Ference

I'd assume pc tries to unload one of nikitin/ference of griffin makes the squad.

Unless they do manage to trade one of Nikitin/Ference, I can't see them putting the Captain in the press box for any extended period of time. It sends a pretty bad message.

I'm interested in seeing Sekera play. I don't think Faynr is a top pair guy. I still think Klefbom is our best dman. Can't wait for pre season to see what they all look like and who gets some chemistry.

Good point. The Ference hate just seems to blind a lot of people to this type of simple logic.
