Thanks for the write up Carol, I also enjoyed your piece from the Globe. We are very lucky to have a professional writer as our blogger here. You are very good at what you do and it is very rewarding to have a new blog to read almost every day.

Is this your first time getting a chance to watch Hockey in Europe? I'm curious about the entertainment value on the larger ice surface. I am always impressed with how much faster the game seems when watching live NHL games, do you notice a big difference between the two live?

I'm also happy for TSN that the tournament is delivering such great intrigue and tremendous hockey after they went all-in with their coverage this year.

Can you imagine their joy when they realized they may have a potential OV vs Crosby matchup. After losing national broadcasting rights this must feel pretty good. Viewership will probably beat any NHL playoff number.

The entertainment value in tonight's win over the Czechs came from the crowd - every bit as manic as promised as they chanted "Jaromir Jagr" over and over.

The game certainly seems to have a lot more flow. There are not nearly as many stoppages, which is why the games go by so much more quickly. I think that contributes to the sense of pace.

I have really only watched the Canada games with a critical eye (and even then, was putting together my game stories, so I focus on key moments like scoring plays). Since I haven't seen Canada play a competitive game yet, I'll have to hold back before I comment further.

But I will say the end of tonight's Czech/Finland game was absolutely thrilling.

I'm so pleased for the locals that their boys - who weren't exactly favoured coming into this context - will play another day.

This will be a very emotional test for the Canadians.

I haven't double-checked this, but I saw a tweet this morning that the NHL counterprogrammed with Game 1 of the WCF between Chicago and Anaheim at the same time as the gold medal game on Sunday. If that's true, it's on!

Carole, good to see you are ok. We thought perhaps you may have been abducted by Slovakian Amway gypsies and forced to sell illegal babooshkas on the black market to the local peasants

Steven Harper got it right, dedicating the bridge to Detroit, to Mr. Hockey #9. Congrats Mr Howe, well deserved.

I'm not impressed by signing Subban... If he'd grown 3 inches, now that would be impressive...

So you'd never sign an undersized player? Makes sense.

It clashes with the turquoise and Aqua blue of the uniforms. We would hate to have Bob Cole say again Boy This Subban stands out too.
