Carol Schram: Vancouver Canucks: Cole Cassels Continues to Shut Down Connor McDavid Another great night for Cole Cassels, as his Oshawa Generals have taken a 2-0 series lead over Connor McDavid and the Erie Otters in the OHL Final.

Cassels won't be on the team next year if WD has anything to say about it. However wouldn't that be awesome if he did the same thing BoHo did!

Edit: or McDavid starts giving the Canucks fits.

According to their coach and the minutes Cassels was on the ice when McDavid was on the ice...yes he is.

“Nobody has been able to shut down the McDavid kid,” Oshawa coach D.J. Smith said. “He’s running through our league like nobody has done before.

“It’s going to be Cole’s job. We’re going to get him out there as often as we can against McDavid. It’ll be up to the two (defensemen) on the ice, too, obviously, but that’s Cole’s matchup in this series.”

He was at the game, apparently he's not watching very well. And who puts a winger on to shut down a center...lol.

The only real difference in this series from the last is that Erie's power play has gone stone cold. McDavid scored (I'd have to check exactly) around 13 of his 16 points in the last series on the pp.

Edit: and by all accounts it was Appleby standing on his head that contained McDavid and Erie.

I wonder if Benning has asked Bieksa to waive his NTC yet?

I'm sure the oilers will take their time with him and develop his game in junior. They've been known to do this in the past.

Canucks should tell Cassels to "Bertuzzi" McDavid. Suspension won't translate into the AHL/NHL and Oilers have to take Eichel.
