Paul McCann: Injured, Book It! and On the Bubble

Jarnkrok & Forsberg should make the team. I'm 50/50 on Fiala. He shows a ton of potential, but I hope they don't keep him on the team just so he won't go back overseas. At the same time, I could see the argument for keeping him up & letting him mature his game against real NHL players.

I think the Preds have the most complete group of D-men in the league. And they have Pekka. I'm very interested to see how that plays out in Laviolette's system over the long haul of the season. If the Preds don't have the horses to run the way PL wants them to...then they might as well tank and be in line for McDavid or Eichel!

I'm looking forward to this season for a number of reasons. The coaching change may have a bigger and quicker impact than any of us expect. It will also be good to see some of the young talent playing in a different system. It also will probably bring about yet another way for Weber to get screwed out of the Norris. And if the Preds suck...remember...McDavid & Eichel!!!

Year after year I wonder why Rich Clune continues to take a roster spot from a young player. He plays full out, but he's not very talented. He fights, but he almost never wins and rarely throws a punch in those fights. He's funny, but we need a hockey player, not a clown.

I like Rich as a person, but I just don't see what value he brings to the club. At least with the youngsters they'll be gaining some much needed NHL experience. His presence on the roster denies them that. I don't get it.

I'm excited about opening night for the first time in the last three seasons. After the lockout I wasn't real excited about the season starting. They could have shut the whole thing down for all I cared. The summer came, and after those FA acquisitions you just knew it was going to be a long season. Going to games last season felt like a chore.

Now we have a new coach, new players, a new attitude and a new feel. I'm excited to see what the season brings, good or bad. I do think we're finally on the right track.
