Bravo to everyone's comments last night after the goal by your favorite and mine Sutturd, seriously they were all pretty funny.

Thinking about the Pens potentially having NHL players on ELC's kind of makes me misty eyed. Still don't like the idea of putting Bennett on the top line if Johnson's plan is to roll four lines. Yeah, 14-87-19 and 9-71-72 would be formidable, but where does that leave line 3? Downie - Sutter - Spaling/Megna? Sutter just isn't good enough to elevate guys around him. 3rd line production would suck, and the top 2 lines would be leaned on too heavily again. Not as bad as last year, but still not great. |

Sundqvist is so close but you still don't want to rush him. I'm hoping he can start to find an offensive game in WBS. It would certainly make for and interesting trade deadline if he can get going down there and Goc is hitting his stride up here. |

Should sundqviust get the first 9 games? I say yes.. see what he can do... if kap keeps I'm proving do you do the same for him?
Comeau can be cut anytime.. don't see his value and plz don't say he's a pk'er |

He sucks on the pk, but I have been impressed with Comeau's game so far. He looks like a solid bottom six guy. He should pair nicely with Goc. |

I guess that's the question regarding Bennett, does an improved 3rd line outweigh an improved top 6? I still can't decide. |

Ideally the Sutter+ trade brings in a guy that can fit in better on top 6. With Bennett also in top 6 it would allow a Dupuis 3rd line scenario. Third line still solid with Goc-Dupuis. |

I think Comeau has been fine at even strength as well.
Sunqvist still looks a little weak on the puck at times given his size. He could be very effective in a few years gaining some strength.
That said...Sutter is expendable now, we don't even need Sundqvist to be NHL ready this year in order to trade away Sutter, imo. |

I'm pretty excited about Sundqvist. Nice to see a young forward impress. Kap should get top minutes in every preseason game. See how he develops before regular season starts. Keep him on the left side |

Oh trust me, I'm 100% in favor of that.
Just trying to shuffle the deck we are given right now. |

I think it does... You look at teams like Chicago and LA, they have some talent on the 3rd line.
You can't have 2 scoring lines and two "don't get scored on" lines in the NHL anymore. |

I'd start with Sutter and Bennett on the 3rd and make adjustments where needed. Spaling-Geno-Hornqvist doesn't turn me on tho. |

Sundqvist is probably a year or more away. I don't think Sutter goes anywhere this year. I'm getting "misty eyed" over the possibility of this team developing a big forward for a change. |

Depending on how the fourth line is performing I rather have Sundqvist develop more at WBS than get minimal minutes languishing on the fourth line. If the fourth line is complete garbage like last season I can see him being called up but I would like to see him get more seasoning in the minors. He definitely looks like a guy that will be able to contribute at some time in the future. |

Man when did all the criticism of Sutter start? The guy is 25 and has been playing with some very below average NHL players but still finds a way to produce.
$3.3 million cap for the 2 more years plus better linemates. Looks like a great situation to me. |

Wait....just to be clear, you think Goc could play 3rd line center cause it hasn't been said in ever blog since Sutter resigned?
Haha no but Goc has looked decent. Def upgrade on 4th line. Funny how 90% of people have convinced themselves Sutter is gone and the season hasn't even started. |

Not only have the Pens 3/4 lines provided no depth scoring the last few years, they have often been "scored on." Not a good combination. I think that will change this year. |

Agree in the need for a top 6. Carolina needs a center now. How about Sutter,Dupuis and Samuellson for Semin. Rutherford signed him there so he must like him. Sutter and Dupuis' cap hit is a wash with Semin's salary. Then you go with:
Kunitz-Crosby-Bennett
Semin-Malkin-Hornqvist
Spaling-Goc-Downie
Carcillo-Sundqvist-Comeau |

I hate Sutter more than any Penguin of all time, but I wouldn't even do this. Semin is a turd.

I agree.... This is his first season in North America, right? I'd be happy with him playing a lot of minutes in all situations for WBS, then a 9 minute a night role in Pgh.

I agree on the Spaling-Geno-Hornqvist line, but I wouldn't mind seeing it for a month to see what happens. In the end, that line's success is based on how Malkin and Hornqvist click. |
