Well John, none of those D men has me very excited. Doubt Runblad amounts to much, 2nd coming of John Scott in that Q will likely play him -- he didn't look very good last year in limited exposure and I am not expecting much more this yr. No wonder 2 other teams gave up on him. Skating looks "stilted" -- and same goes for Cumiskey. Another guy Q benched in Colorado, much more so than what he's done with Leddy here.
Hell, if Q won't give Leddy rope to take minutes, make mistakes, etc -- why in the world will he do so now unless Bowman forces his hand.
This smells of 2011 all over again. I know most of you out there don't think so, you all think if Hawks can keep Johnny O and Sharp they'll be making a run. Just wait cause I don't see things that way at all. |

If the hawks can get a couple of relatively high draft picks for Leddy, say a 1st rounder in 2015, that would give them 2 firsts, and 2 seconds(I'm already adding the Hayes pick) OR say 2nd rounder in 2015 and a 2nd rounder in 2016, I would think Stan would pull the trigger. |

Bringing back Troy Brouwer + for Sharp? Doubt the Caps will let Joel Ward go, and he would present an issue next offseason anyway as a UFA. Not sure anyone else on that roster makes sense as a return for Sharp - either too much cap hit or nowhere near the replacement of his production. |

Just posted this on the previous blog right before this one went up(go figure...)
The more i think about it the more i believe our team this upcoming season has a chance to be one of the most if not the most high scoring/high flying offenses in the Cap era(and yes, i understand that means nothing as far as winning the Cup because we need to defend better and get great goaltending from CC in the playoffs too..)...
If we can get all of the following things to occur, then LOOK OUT opposing defenses:
1. "Playoff Bickell" not waiting for the playoffs to show up.
2. Morin developing into a guy who can put up 20-25 goals and somewhere around 40 pts, thus earning a shot at some top 6 minutes.
3. Richards developing chemistry with Kane and showing improvement over what we've seen from him in NY the past few seasons.
4. Versteeg bouncing back, playing smarter, and trying to earn a role in the bottom 6.
5. TT surprising everyone and showing that he's already ready to play at the NHL level and contribute without hurting the team.
6. All the younger guys who were regulars last year(like Saad, Shaw, Smith, and Kruger) all take their games to another level.
7. Sharp and Hossa show no signs of slowing down.
8. The most important one of them all: NOBODY SUFFERS ANY SERIOUS INJURIES.
Highly unlikely that all of that happens, especially #5. But if it did u could only imagine how unstoppable we'd be on offense going into the playoffs with something like...
Bickell - Toews - Morin
Saad - Richards - Kane
Sharp - Teravainen - Hossa
Shaw - Kruger - Smith
Thats like 3 top lines and 1 3rd line.
Now, without all the wishful thinking and being more realistic, id expect something like....
Sharp - Toews - Hossa
Saad - Richards - Kane
Bickell - Shaw - Morin
Versteeg - Kruger - Smith
Now that STILL has off the charts offensive potential, so either way i think we're gonna be leading the league in GF this year. But MAN if we could hit the jackpot and get everything to work out perfectly we'd be somethin' special....

Since the teams with CAP space are almost exclusively non-playoff teams, you are asking one of these teams to TRADE a 2015 first rounder, that now the lottery includes EACH and every team.
Already a superior top two and possibly a couple franchise defenders right after that, do you really think some team is gonna give up even the slightest chance of picki ng first?
(Oh that's right the Isles did for Dal Colle!)

Just curious as to why if you think they dump Leddy and keep Sharp and Oduya it morphs into 2011. I don't see that all. Top 4 and top 6 are solid and your F depth is still there.
yeah, the bottom pair on D are questionable I'll give you that...but this wont' be a fringe playoff team. |

You really think he is on their trade list?
Here's the thing: at the end of this year, at two million I don't think he is gonna want a bridge deal...

Demurs for Green for cap space.
Chimera and 1st for Sharp.
Pretty fair value IMO.
Chi gets cap relief, pick and solid vet.
Was gets impact fwd and young D on an iffy contract.
SJ gets pp QB to replace Boyle, Burns can stay at fwd. |

Can Sharp play center? - Blackstrom2
Yeah for the Philadelphia Phantons in the AHL he was a centre...
you don't want a sniper carry additional checking duties in his end, you want him breaking out when the puck is and that is why he is on the wing.

If Leddy is moved, I'd have to believe that Dahlbeck and Cumiskey are the strong contenders to fill his roster spot. Clendening plays on the right side and with Rozsival and Rundblad still around, I don't see where he would fit in. |

Okay, thanks for the hockey lesson. I'll send the paypal payment soon.
If Sharp hasn't played center in the NHL, I'd rather keep Green. He should only go out for a legitimate top-6 center. |

Except for the fact Chimera is horse poop, and J ason Demers is a whole lot better all around than Ric Green who still can't play his end.
Why would SJ make that trade? Doesn't it lessen their chances of beating West rivals? |

Demers? I'd let Green go if we can upgrade Chimmy to Sharp and only lose a 1st. Demers is very good. Not sure why San Jose or Chicago would want to do these trades though. |

John Jaeckel: 6/7 Defense Sweepstakes And A Rumor - John Jaeckel
I hate to see anything done to hurt the defense.
I don't think Craw is a strong enough goalie to play behind a weaker D
Don't count on any player development coming from Rockford. Beach, Skille, Pirri, Hayes, Morin, Nordstrom and soon to be: Teravainen, Danault, Hartman, McNiel, Dahlbeck and Johns are an Indictment on the development system.
Keep the team as close to what it was last year.
Hope Craw comes back stronger.
Trade off Versteeg and Rosie with a combination of picks/prospects
Fire the Hogs coaching and player development staff.

The hawks don't want Green (as JJ stated).
If fact I am prety certain Detroit doesn't want him and no contender wants him.
He is paid like a top defender and is a point shot, whose still is average defensively.
Teams get him and then their hoe grown defenders want to know why THEY AREN"T making his salary because THEY KNOW they are better defensively!
It is not an easy sell...it is not gonna be an equal return.
I am not sure iF Brooks Oprik can make him better, because what Green needs is a partner who can really cover up his issues.
No paypal payment, my gig at DraftSite.com pays me an ample amount of kudodollars... |
