Nothing wrong with this signing. A solid hockey player with a decent cap hit and brings something Ottawa needs; he's a pain in the ass" to play against. |

I think Legwand starts out as a third line center, with Zibanejad as the second line center. |

I really like this signing. I think he's undervalued and will fit in very well. I also like that he turned down more money from Toronto. How would you guys draw up the lines if this was the roster?
Yost do you think this signing is in preparation for a trade? I would hate to lose Zack Smith. |

Always thought he was a bit of an underrated player in this years free agency market, solid career, but never really lived up to his draft position. Should fit in well with the Sens, not sure who he would have for wingers though. |

I assume we are looking to bring in one more nhl too 6 winger before the season starts. If not, guys like Hoffman and Stone are excellent players and definitely top 6 material now. |

When Murray was asked about Turris being ready to play 1st line center, he responding saying he thought Turris would stay as a second and Zibanejad would move up to 1st line duties. |

I think getting Legwand at 3 million for 2 seasons is great value & allows time for players like Zibanejad, Lazar & Pageau to develop & gain experience.
Bairing injuires Zibanejad doesn't play LW. Ottawa hs MacArthur & Michalek as their top 2 LW's & Ryan & Chaisson as their top 2 RW's. That leaves Ottawa's lines looking something like this. Legwand or Zibanejad will inter change as 2nd & 3rd line cenetrs through out the season based on their current play. All coaches shuffle the deck constantly many run2 man formations with the 3rd player rotating in & out.
Moving left to right.
MacArthur, Turris, Ryan.
This line was Ottawa's best last season by a significant margin but MacLean's depolyment of their minutes was questionable. Had they played better quality minutes & power play time Ottawa would have been bettered served.
Turris averaged 18:43, MacArthur 17:38, Ryan 16:42 of total average ice time per game. Turris should have been over 20 & MacArthur & Ryan dam close to that. Power play time has split over 3 lines, 15 players? It should have been plamirily on distributed to 2 lines not 3 with these 3 players getting substantially more PP time. They will this season.
Michalek, Legwand/Zibanejad, Chaisson.
Hoffman, Legwand/Zibanejad, Neil.
Greening, Smith, Condra.
Spares Pageau & Stone.
Hopefully MacLean roles 4 lines again, just not playing the 3rd & 4th lines quite as many minutes & giving his scorers more quality minutes on the PP. Ottawa would be better served. |

From them both last season. Hoffman's speed and shot are unbelievable. |

What defense? And if you don`t score more goals than your opponent = you lose. |

He definetly has the tools, just cant seem to put it all together at the NHL level. Full season with the big club and some more responsibility could help that though |

Why look who's back, after disappearing while his Leafs were going 2-8 down the stretch for one of the biggest late season collapses ever, after the biggest game 7 collapse ever the year before.
I guess the -25 goal differential for ol' Bluey was very acceptable, given it was one of their best in the last 10 seasons.
Don't worry though, I hear Davie Clarkson is going to improve 20% this year, and get 6 big goals, and maybe even not finish -14 again, spuddy boy. And all for just $5.25M a year until 2020. |

I think it will, I'm just concerned they will sign or trade for some goof like Chris Stewart now, and then Hoffman and Stone will hardly get to showcase their stuff.
Same way that Weircioch has been buried behind (frank)ing Phillips, Cowen, and Gryba for too long.
Hoffman is a classic late bloomer, don't want to see him walk and bloom elsewhere into a 50-60 point guy. |
