Carol Schram: Vancouver Canucks: AV Fights On, UFA Goalies, World Championships Update Former Canucks coach Alain Vigneault fights to avoid elimination on Sunday, while Jonas Hiller becomes increasingly likely to be available as a free agent this summer, and Canada performs well at the World Championships.

if Benning is the new GM what will he think of this current roster. Outsider Torts wasn't impressed at all but couldn't do anything about it.

What will a person with the ability to change do.

You do need to take in account some numbers. Burrows would need to quadruple his production to hit 20 goals.

When you are talking one player doubling his production that is asking a lot, when you ask three players to double their production you are playing with fire.

I agree about Burr moving down, but I would like him on the third line.

I don't see it that way, at all. When you're just expecting a player to return to his normal production, I don't think that's asking a lot. Taking into consideration he broke a bone in his foot and then broke his jaw all in the same year.

Even a couple of meatheads like me, Booner and you can see the line-up, as it is, is in serious trouble. I'm sure he can too.

What a great guy, hard to be like him so much more then that selfish asshat James. That speech might be the best acceptance speech I've ever heard. #class act

I'm sure that he'll want to put his mark on the team but with all of those NTC's, its gonna be a helluva ride....

Carol, the last time I checked, AV is no longer coach of the Vancouver Canucks!!
So can you please end your undying love for him and stick to Canuck related topics!
I think we can all agree that he was one hell of a coach in Vancouver, but he's moved on. So should you!
Your blog is otherwise great by the way!

Writing tip: you don't need to end every sentence with a ! to get your point across. You need to apply some rational thought.

Oh oh - Brandon Sutter scored for Pittsburgh, Vantel is gonna come in here and try to convince us he's a second line center. Or we need him to add to the collection of other third line centers we have?

It should be obvious by now that playoff success is all about depth, specifically each line winning their matchup against the opposing line and D pairing. PIT obviously has some valuable depth which is why Sutter is scoring more than Crosby, but place Sutter on the 1st or 2nd line and the guy will be a ghost.

If a team can keep a line with Malkin under control, they'd hog tie a line centered by Sutter with the same matchup.

EDIT: Just saw the goal. Speculative centering pass ricochets off the D and in. Lots of luck on that one.

Vantel is a numbers man. The numbers say Brandon S scored. Be damned the reason or luck.
