Carol Schram: Vancouver Canucks Game Review: Another Loss, More Injuries, Can't Score The effort was better, but the offense continued to evade the Vancouver Canucks, who stretched their league-high losing streak to five games after Tuesday's 3-1 loss to the Boston Bruins.

Never have I seen so many injuries. No trade will solve this, short term but this may be the push Gillis needs to actually touch core players and trade 1 or 2 because even at full strength, the core is only a 5th to 6th team.... at best.

I would like to see them bench Danny for a game.

As soon as the playoffs are out of reach, I hope we see our young guns

And I was ripped apart when I flamed MG for re-signing the Sedins for 7 million a piece. Four more years of Sedinary is going to be painful.

Booth can't and wont hit the net with his "shot".

Burrows cannot stay on his skates.

Daniel has lost his hands.

Henrik is injured.

Kesler is one manning it, to no result.

Edler is a shell of his former self.

Opposition teams are refusing Garrison from shooting.

Kassian creates offensive opportunities, for both sides.

My only hope is that the powerplay drop pass is traded along with Edler.

Go Canucks Go.

Somehow I think the injuries will be an excuse not to touch the core... Had a good December and then... injuries! Twisted with some ambiguous lawyer speak.

Their once pretty spin-o-rama passes to each other have turned into ugly weak turnovers. I'm interested to see how they play in the Olympics, I have a feeling they will be totally invisible and end up playing 12 minutes a night.

From Elliot Freidman's 30 Thoughts this week:

4. It's unlikely trading for Raphael Diaz means an impending orgy of Canuck moves, especially since Diaz is not signed beyond this season and there's really no sense in extending him now. But, last week, GM Mike Gillis did have a face-to-face with owner Francesco Aquilini. (It's not unusual for hockey bosses to meet with owners after an organization's mid-season scouting get-together.) The two men talked about where the team is, where it is going and what will happen depending on how things go between now and the deadline. Sounds like Vancouver will not waste its future on short-term rentals.

As glacial as I find MG to be in assessing the state of this team, I now believe he will be looking to do exactly what you say with one of the core. He's probably been gauging the league's interest since BobMac called out the entire roster (barring Sedins) was on the block.

The return would have to be monumental to warrant trading Kesler.

Gillis has to go if for the 2nd straight season he calls it a "messed up year". No legit franchise just writes off 2 bad/mediocre seasons and still considers themselves a contender.

Kesler, Hamhuis and Bieksa would bring in very nice returns IMO. All 3 are guys that most GM's never trade and are under contract at more than reasonable cap hits. That being said, it's very hard to swing non-rental deals these days, especially significant ones, it's easy to swing a 2nd for a rental, but the big deals usually don't happen in a flash...and multiple big deals would be very hard to pull off.

I'll say it again, at the TDL I'm expecting one trade at the most and zero would not shock me since Edler's value is low compared to years past and could increase.

At the draft is where I expect the most action. Players should be more willing to move their families during the entire summer, cap will go up so buyers will have more flexibility, more compliance buyouts also frees up more space for teams and etc. Plus the UFA market sucks outside of a handful of players.

I'd do that straight up in a heartbeat, the Jackets won't move him now that he's had a breakout season. He doesn't have the apparent "attitude issues" of an Evander Kane or Tyler Seguin and loos like he'll be a #1 center for CBJ to build around. Their new management are the guys who built the Blues..they like big players or smaller guys with grit and Johansen fits the size category for sure.

Nope.

In much better shape than they were at the time of their decline.

Both the NHL roster and the prospect pool.

The Flames are a worst case scenario.
